I've heard that someone died while walking through one once and the grieving family blamed it on the metal detector but science couldn't actually prove it. So the airport to cover their asses from being sued AGAIN started posting signs. True or False?

Actually NO. Check the Journal of American College of Cardiology. Vol 4, No.11, 2003

Ever wonder why your not allowed in hospitals with cell phone? Cuz those little devices we see everywhere have more chance of harming someone with a pace maker than the walk through metal detectors at an airport..........Scary huh?

the person has a card, and they either show it to tsa, or let the tsa know. there are 2 types of pacemakers this affects 1 type, and those people usually know to tell someone. Yes someone CAN DIE, from walking through a metal detector with that type.

No onclusive evidence, but as a precautionary measure, the airport security will let you bypass that detector and use a lower power one on you.

Just have to show doctor's advice.
