I asked a similar question last night and had several people basically tell me that illegals have no loyalty or honor and can't be trusted for anything. I'm thinking those people do not realize how many illegal aliens they encounter without ever seeing them. If illegals were out to kill Americans they could do it right here.
I think the language problems would be minimal. Most aliens pick up really necessary words quickly and we already have soldiers who speak only Spanish. Not every illegal speaks Spanish but the majority speak some English or Spanish.

Actually many illegals already do serve the military, many are promised citizenship by serving while others do it by using a fake green card or someone else's id.It seems when it comes to going to fight for a country that calls them "parasites" and "leeches" they have no problem in shipping them off to a foreign country that they might not comeback alive from.As for not speaking english that's usually not a problem because many of them took highschool classes and the rest learned it in the streets, though they may not speak it real well many understand it perfectly. To you I thank you for having served and your right everyone has a DUTY to this country and it seems that many on here who spew off the hate and mexican bashing should take their turn at serving their country.

Hmm no. I am a vet and I do not think that is the right answer at all. They should do the right thing and come here legaly and then they can serve. I know there are many criminals in the military and most do not make good soldiers. I think we do not need more of them. I served with quite a few of noncitizens. They were however in the U.S. legally. I do not know the specifics, but there is a way to do it somehow.

We already have a quota system for foreigners who wish to serve in the US Military. They should apply through the U.S. Embassy in their home countries. illegal means non law abiding hence not worthy! Iserved with foreign nationals in the Navy(several Filipinos, a couple of Africans, and one Romanian who had served in the Romanian Army around when Brezhnev died.). They were all fine people who followed the RULES!!!!

Do you know how many people live not only in the US but Canada too as illegals? These people work cash only. They are not registered, have no insurance coverage, no drivers licences, nothing...they simply don't exist yet they are here...they are everywhere and they are PLENTY.
No doubt because they don't have "status" they end up needing our country and the people who help them survive and exist to the point they are like loyal pets, willing to serve any way they can just so they can exist and live in peace and harmony.
That's the way I see it....the world has changed a lot in the past 20 years years one can hardly recognize it anymore!

I totally agree with you. If the illegals live in this country should be able to serve this country as a duty and then helping solve their legal status.

Like I said in a previous answer ... wouldn't that largely depend on where they are sent? I for one would think it would be rather difficult for let's say an Iraqi illegal to go and fight in Iraq ... I also wonder about the language difficulty, unless they get a crash course in English ... there are illegals who speak neither English nor Spanish ... would imagine a modicum of English would be required to at least understand how to follow orders??

Well I certainly think if you made them work a little longer for a little less, it would be a good qualifier for citizenship. Citizenship shouldn't be easy, after all.
Anyone that is willing to put in 8-10 years in the army should get citizenship. I would agree with that.

first off, i want to thank you for your service to our/your country! why not allow illegal aliens? better yet, why should we? why should they not have to go through proper channels like past immigrants did? i have no problem with immigrants coming to our country legally to obtain a better life for themselves and their families. what i do not like is them coming here "demanding" rights they have not earned! they should learn our language and speak it when here! why should my hard earned tax dollars pay for their medical benefits when our own natural Americans cant even get the aid they so desperately need? i could go on and on over this, but im quite sure you get my drift.
