How cliche. I found one of their fliers on my doorstep this morning. They didn't actually knock on the door and wake me up at 7 AM on a Saturday, but I always believed that this only happened in movies.

Yes we do go door to door, thus the pop culture references. We do not wish to bother people we are simply, as the Bible tells us to, going out and sharing Bible truths.

Thank you for asking your question politely.

PS I was hoping this would not be necessary but I see I need to correct some of the misinformation the other answerer's left.

References to human sacrifice, sexual offers or comments, showing up at the door naked, threatening us with Knives, etcetra, do not chase us away. I am so tired of people making up these wild stories. In this day and age in which we live people can never be to careful. Case in point. Many Witnesses go door to door with minors, in fact some Witnesses are still minors. If someone came to the door naked, or exposed their private parts, or made sexual offers, or made a threat against the life of one such minor, runs the risk of being reported to the proper authorities. Remember what once may have been construed as a bad joke, might now be called, perverted or terrorist.

Since there is almost always someone who says I claimed to be a Devil worshiper, I will set the record straight. There are many Witnesses who were from other religions, including witchcraft and voodoo.

We do not mind children coming up and knocking on our doors for candy. While this is the opposit, in many ways, from why we go from door to door, we do not, for the most part, mind. We simply and politely tell them no as we do not worship pagan holidays. What we do mind is those who decide because they are rejected it is fair game to egg our house.

I just have to ask them what exactly makes them think I am such a Heathen as to not know about God/ Jehovah or Jesus Christ already and that I would need to be educated on the subject when my Granny was a pillar of her old Baptist Church and Grandaddy was a Deacon. I find it vaguely (if irrational) insulting. I hate being disturbed at my home, on my turf, for any reason. Polite people CALL before they come over. I dislike pop-ins. Especially preachin' ones! (>SLAM<...there take THAT!) Or I can just keep my big big doggy by the door.
(Honestly, though, I would HAVE to vote for Ishvarlan. That was a very nice answer)

i'm no longer particular the position a number of you sturdy persons stay, yet in our territory, and in all that i comprehend of, we do not even meet at our Kingdom hall till 9:30 in the morning. Then it takes yet another a million/2 hour or so getting our geese in a row as to who will bypass the position and with whom. So i won't be able to imagine everybody getting a Witness at their door at 8am on Saturday! we are no longer out to bother. imagine of what we attempt this form: in case you had the solutions to a try that absolutely everyone in the international became about to ought to take, and the grade you purchased determined no matter if you lived or died, would not you do all you would possibly want to to ascertain each and each of the folk you knew and loved were given the solutions, too? of direction you would possibly want to! and that is strictly what we are doing. Noah spent thousands of years caution persons about a flood coming... it truly is all we are saying. there's a time in heritage coming that we ought to furnish you innovations about. God requested me to love you adequate to attempt this, and so I do. no matter if you delight in it or no longer, it remains my felony responsibility to Jehovah to do precisely that! :)

One thing Jehovah Witnesses hate is halloween.

They can't stand people coming up unannounced knocking on their door in the middle of the evening...

Oh, girl, I have had so many Jehovah's Witnesses come to my house.

This is why it's IN the movies. Because it happens with regularity.

lol...yes they do....usually they bring their children....just to be sure you don't have the urge to slam the door.

I invited them in once...early one morning...because I was feeling jovial and friendly and curious.

When I brought up the topic of 'how the bible condones the rape and murder of innocent women' in several passages....they seemed a little stunned when they read the passages I showed them....then they drifted into some sort of rhetoric, completely ignoring the passages of the bible I had shown them. I wasn't curious anymore. I told them it was time to leave.

But yes, they do come to your door with the 'message of God' without knowing a thing about the book their religion is based on.

They haven't been back to see me since I opened the door wearing nothing but a tee-shirt. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot ... I was also holding a big a** butcher knife in my hand.
