That depends on your educational background and current standings. If you have some knowledge of science and math to start with, and are doing very well handling your other courseload, I would certainly go ahead with ap chem. However, if you have any doubt, such as that you are expressing simply by asking the question, it might be better to start yourself off in regular chem. I don't know the rules in your school system, but it's entirely possible that if you feel you aren't being stimulated enough in the regular class, you could be bumped up to ap.

Good luck with whatever you choose!

Is it standard in your school for students to leap into AP without first taking the regular chemistry? AP chemistry will mostly have a faster pace than regular chemistry, so if you have good study skills and are comfortable with learning new concepts, you should be ok. If you don't like science very much, or are uncomfortable with math or science in general, I would suggest taking the regular course. The AP standing mostly benefits you for getting college credit (although I hear the AP chem test is pretty killer). If that's not an issue for you, then don't wory about it.

Chemistry AP is like an honors chemistry class. It is set up to move at a faster pace with more in depth academics. Unless you are a Chem major, I would suggest taking regular Chemistry.

If you're an A student then go for the AP class. Plus AP chemistry wasn't too bad.

Take regular for sure. The same thing happened to me Freshman year of high school. I was ap in everything else except science because I didn't get a strong science background in jr. high. I had to transfer classes the first week of high school because I had absolutely NO idea what they were talking about. "Advanced placement" just doesn't seem to go with "no prior experience" very well.

you should definetly look at your course load. if you can you should take AP. it is very helpful even if you dont pass the AP test, which I did take. It was hard, but the class helped me out a lot for my college chemistry class.

Depends on how you've been doing with your math and science classes. If you've been doing well, you should be able to handle AP chemistry. My son, who did well in math and science, took AP physics even though he hadn't had any physics before that. He did very well.

You might want to talk to your counselor about it before you sign up for either.

Good luck and have fun with it!
