Pancha, maybe you should ask if the ones WITH loyalty are willing to die for this country; been there, done that! I'm alive and thankful...I think what you're playing on here, is that your mission is to serve this country in the military, and so many people call you a traitor for your political stand for amnesty...?

So what else is new, I get the same thing, take it with a grain of salt, pal.

Being legal or illegal has NOTHING to do with loyalty. It has everything to do with respect of the laws. Fighting for our country. Yes - I do respect anyone that serves in the armed forces and defends this country. I have many friends in the armed forces that are in Iraq right now as I type. But before you go and call the Pope about sainthood for the guy, why did he join the armed forces for a country that he was not a legal citizen of? I can't help but see the reason that some of the US citizens have joined - for the steady paycheck. Maybe I am wrong - but no one will ever know, will they?

I am willing to die for this country - as screwed up as I think it is, I would give my life for it. I would even give my life for another that I did not agree with. But that is me. I don't think I am special, just that is me. I think there are a lot that would do that if put in the position.

Being an American has nothing to do with loyalty. It has to do with so much more than anyone can imagine. But it has something to do with following the laws of the land. We don't reward the citizens if they break the laws, and you want to treat illegal immigrants like citizens. Well, then we need to punish them. The punishment for coming into this country illegally? Deportation. So they can be just like any other American and take their punishment. If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

No I would not. I would never be willing to die even for a country I had loyalty for. I hate war and hate the military. And I have total respect for those that go especially when this is not even their country. So caring and selfless that's why I love all immigrants - they could teach us something.

You would not die for a country but I would still be willing to die for freedom and ideas.

If you have no loyalty to a country, then you have no business being it that country, other than being a tourist and certainly have no business being in any position where you would have to die for it. Why would any one put them self in such a position for something they didn't feel any loyalty too?

Every immigrant serving in the military (and sometimes dying for it) are legally here obtaining citizenship. None of us "antil illegals" have any problem - that's what we wish all immigrants would do - do it legally.
Clearly to have loyalty to a country you have to respect it which means it's laws too.
And you are right, Stomp does have a good point as to the apathy, but those who come here illegally are not the answer.

I will give my life only for a principle. If the principle is championed by the country, then "dying for my country" becomes possible, but I have no natural allegiance for country. Blind patriotism is, finally, very unpatriotic (destructive to the best interests of the nation). Nazi soldiers were both very patriotic and very pitiful. Being pitiful is not something I aspire to. I know the way to avoid the stupid destiny of the Nazi: answer to conscience, not country.

NO so quit asking should we let all of them join the army that's not feasible either it would take years to teach them english, and they are not even willing to protest their own country

American soldiers go into battle with the idea that they are not willing to die for their country but rather kill for it. This is a concept that you will learn soon enough.

I would think not. I would be willing to die for certain people, not a concept such as a nation.

If I did not then, I would have no right to ask any one, any where to come to my aid at the risk of their life in any situation.

That is, you can opt out of standing for something, then you should stand alone.
