If the person telling the information is a supervisor, I would expect there would be consequences of that person losing their job. But for one employee to talk about another, I doubt there is much you can do. But in the future be very careful who you chose to tell that kind of personal information to.
In the meantime, I would go to your immediately supervisor and ask for help.

It all depends upon how the information leaked in the first place. There are HIPPA regulations, but they apply to health care workers. More info is needed in this case.

I am sure it is illegal, but if it isn't, then that person should be suspended or terminated. I think the company can be sued if they dont take action, but I am not sure. I know the company I work for would terminate one of is if this happened. I'd look through your state's labor laws, or check with you employer.
