125,000 on the SVT is going to be a deciding factor. The SVT will make more power factory, but the 99 with lower miles will give you much more to work with. There are many mods you can make to the 4.6 liter to improve the performance. Check out http://www.fordracingparts.com for some suggestions. The newest SVT's are supercharged and can produce well over 500 horses, but trying to push that much out of a 95 with that mileage, I would have to suggest the 99 model gt.

let me break this down for you 5600 is an awesome price for a 99 mustang gt if it is in good shape. this should be the car you buy. a 1995 cobra has a 240 hp 302, the 99 has a 260 hp 4.6. another thing to consider would be the insurance premium. mustang insurance is sky high and cobras are worse. the 1994-1995 cobras were a god damn joke. these cars are nothing like the 1996 and up cobras. if you really want a cobra find you a 1996 with the DOHC 305 hp 4.6 these cars are a little more expensive than the 94-95 but the performance differences are huge. I love all mustangs except from 71-78 but i would still take a mustang II with a six cylinder over anything chevy. and don't listen to the guy who said put a chevy motor in a six banger. he is obviously not the most intelligent person on the web and i have done a v-6 to a v-8 swap and it is a lot more difficult than is sounds. go with the 99 its that simple

I wouldn't buy either. The SVT Cobra is faster, but 125k?? No way, that engines gone and the 99 GT isn't anthing special. If I were you... I would buy the body style you want (99 and newer or before) and pick out a 6 cylinder with a good body but a lot of mileage (or even broken trans/engine) so you can get the body cheap. Maybe a couple grande. Then buy a crate motor 350, get a trans off a junkyard 90's Trans Am (these are the best stock transmissions you can find and theres a lot of them). Then get a nice exhaust (I don't know what sound you like but I like dual Catbacks, coming out the sides.). It will take a weekend or two of hard work to put the crate motor in and hook it all up. But the car will have zero miles on the engine, a trans that when you install a shifter kit will last forever and a sweet sounding exhaust. This car will smoke the SVT and GT by a few SECONDS on the track and it will look like a lowly 6 cylinder. I recommend keeping the 6-cyl. body, I personally like the sleeper car look and race ready performance but there are tons of opportunities to get nice Mustang body panels out there. Good luck!

So are they a good investment?...... NO car, NO brand of car is a good investment. Now I see no reason to think a Mustang as just a whiteboy car. They are nice cars or at least I like them but then for $8,000 it all depends on what you buy. A 6 cyl. that has been taken care of would be nice, A V8 that is taken car of would be a good one... but how was it driven.. a hot rod? You may get junk. So get one if you wish, but have it checked out before you buy.

I hate to say it but neither is worth the money and both should be avoided if you need a car to drive. But, if the SVT is returned to mint condition it will be worth a lot more than the GT regardless of miles on either.

between the two i would definetly go with the svt. they discontinued it due to hp issues (too much) but you will need to go through it and probably rebuild it..never stick a chevy motor in a ford...kind of defeats the purpose of buying a ford. look online for upgrades and body kits (if you wanted to modify it) youll find more for the cobra im sure. good luck !

The cobra is faster, but I'd feel safer buying the GT with less miles on it.

A trans am(which even the last gen is still faster than the new GT) sounds better. Piss flows out of my dick faster than most mustangs. ESPECIALLY a 90s Mustang they were all slow.
