I don't mind. To be in the military requires them to put the interests of America and it's citizens ahead of their mother countries. Plus, serving in the military is a LEGAL way to gain citizenship.
And as for law breakers in the military.... as long as it's not a felony, the courts still allow criminals to enter the military rather than go to jail.

If the military wants them, I wouldn't have a problem with it. I doubt they would though, you have to be sure that the guy who has your back isn't on the other side if you are putting them in a war. If you aren't handing them a gun and putting them in combat, the limited duties and opportunities they would face would amount to discrimination--are the illegals OK with that? But if the military needed people that badly, I'd leave it to them. Since they still aren't quite sure about gay people, I can't see it happening.
If the military thinks its worth a background check and other safeguards, I'd go for it. But under no circumstances do I think illegals should be drafted.

Yes I would.
Why? Because they are in this country illegally. What is so hard to understand about the stand? If you are legally here, then you can be afforded the same things that US citizens do. If you are here illegally, then you are a criminal. Why be allowed to serve this country? If you are here illegally, then you should not be allowed to be in the military for this country. Be in the military for the country that you are a legal citizen for.

I just want to say that i was reading all of the answers that were given and I had to laugh at all the people mention MEXICO! Why do all Illegals have to be from Mexico....people come here from many different countries illegally. Get your facts straight and understand what the question is before you start rambling on....and I as an American have no problem with Illegals joining the millitary......if they are willing, then let them. We as Americans take everything for granted and think we are too good to even defend our own country and then you want to ***** and say that they are taking our jobs when they work for MAYBE $2 an hour in extreme heat picking corn........I'm sure you wouldn't do that for $2 and hr.! So stop your bitching and if you don't want illegals taking your jobs get your crack *** off of welfare and get a job so that they don't take them.

I am in the military, and I would not have a problem with an "illegal" joining the military IF they were trying to become a contributing citizen. Illegals who want to mooch off of our welfare system and choose not to learn our language can go elsewhere.

Yes. You answered your own question right there: They are illegals. Why should they be allowed to join the military, or for THAT matter, be in our country at all? That's a better question.

Foreigners that are not immigrants, legal or otherwise, can join the US military from OUTSIDE our country. They can go to an embassy and join up. Why should we care if they join the military from INSIDE our country?

Yes, if they are illegal, they are not citizens of this country, why would they be allowed to join our military. They have no business being in our military, they are the last ones that i would trust to have my back, and yes, i am in the military. let them join their own countries military, maybe they can help turn their country around and make their own country as great as ours one day.

If their loyalty was to another country first, actually, I would. That really IS what happened to Rome. I don't want them just fighting to get our stuff, unless they are going to be loyal.
If they want to be Americans, truly, then no, I wouldn't have a problem and don't have a problem with their thereby getting citizenship, either. I just don't like the idea of people becoming citizens to get what they can out of us, rather than because they really want to be Americans.

This is actually a way that legal immigrants get citizenship. They really don't need much to join the military, except to meet the requirements. Really, if you want to be a citizen of the US to be in the military, there is basically no barrier.
