The answer is in the first chapter of Genesis 1:28: "And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

Also, the Bible says the Earth is to be "filled" with Perfect, Peaceful men, (Ps. 72:7) "In his days shall the righteous flourish; and abundance of peace so long as the moon endureth."

Matthew 6:10 "Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven."

Also, the Bible says the Earth will never be destroyed or depopulated,

(Ecclesiatstes 1:4) "One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh; but the earth abideth for ever."

The "purpose for creating it" is to have follower's who "willingly" serve him, hence the "free will" which is all important in this "that is OUR case." Satan was very tricky in how he "challenged God" he didn't challenge God to Godhead or some other suicidal idea, instead, he "challenged God's right to RULE." With 1/3 of the Angels of Heaven already on Satan's side and not wanting to lose more, God had to do 1 of 2 things, destroy Satan and his followers and perhaps create more rebels OR ANSWER Satan's challenge by "allowing" a period of time to go by where man and satan ruled and saw for "themselves" that it was ONLY GOD who could rule over them with justice and fairness. So, God chose the 2nd, and we have been suffering ever since. However, even before man fell, God made a "way out" for mankind as we see at Genesis 3:15 when he tells Satan that Christ will "bruise him in the Head (put him in Spiritual Darkness) and that Satan will Kill Christ for 3 days (and then Christ will return even GREATER).

So, we are now living in the Last Days, since almost EVERY FORM OF GOVERNMENT KNOWN TO MAN HAS BEEN FORMED AND TRIED! None have succeeded. This is all in the Old Testament, just research it!

The answer for the earth is simple, it is to be used as a home for perfect mankind forever, with Christ and his co-rulers to rule justly over their human subject eternally. What could be happier?
