This is one of the highly debated topics in Christianity. Some say "once saved, always saved" but this ignores some scriptures. Others say, "Yes you can loose your salvation." But this too ignores some verses. The remainder say, "You can't be torn from God's hand but you can leave." This seems to be the group you are addressing. I think you cannot leave the faith and re-enter the faith because of one scripture Paul wrote saying, "if you are washed then trample the sacrifice of Christ underfoot, then what more sacrifice is there?" These issues aren't well addressed in the American churches and the result is the flippant attitude of so many toward the sacrifice of Christ and the will of God in their lives. I say this as a Christian who has started some of the old bad habits again, so I think you can see that if I had a horse in this race, it wouldn't have been the one I'm riding.
My answer in a nutshell is NO. But I also believe that God is patient beyond our understanding. If one does turn away after knowing Him in all His grace and mercy, if he can be corrected God will accept him again. Its like a married woman cheating on her husband. Her husband is a jealous man, but he loves her so much and sees that she was raised in an environment of promiscuity and sexual addiction, so he keeps taking her back with the hope that he can be the one she loves when she realizes how self destructive her ways and commits to loving only one for her own well being.

The reason Jesus used the term "Born Again" is because no one can become unborn. A person can die, but they can't become unborn.

No. The way I see it, being born again is receiving the Holy Spirit. There is no need to be born again because when the Holy Spirit enters you, it doesn't leave. You may need to pay attention to it more often, but it doesnt leave.

When I was a christian, I thought so. Worrying about whether I was saved was too much stress so I gave it up entirely.

No, but I've wondered whether losing the faith and then regaining it would involve multiple baptisms.
