I am just genuinely wondering why abortion is not murder. I am not going to bash anyone if they don't believe as I do because I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, I genuinely would like to know. I watched a show tonight where a lady said she did not believe she killed another life when she had an abortion, so my question is, if you are not ending another life (also called killing and murder), what are you doing? I do believe that extenuating circumstances (i.e. rape, incest, danger of death to the woman, etc etc) do provide times when it could be considered, but not to those who decide it is not timely for them or it is uncovenient to them to have a child. My opinion to this is you should have had contraception or you shouldn't have spread your legs. For those who don't believe it is not, please tell me your opinions, views and beliefs as to why abortion is not murder so that I can try to better understand your point of view. Thanks to all who answer in advance.

Just to clarify to all, I DO believe abortion is murder, I am just trying to find out why those who believe it is not feel that way.

I don't believe that it is all the woman's fault, but she is the one who agreed to have sex knowing she wasn't taking contraceptives and that she could get pregnant. Also, it is the woman who ultimately makes the decision on whether to have the abortion or not. In the situation where the parents must agree, the mother HAS to say yes. Any way you look at it, she has to say yes to sex. Just because the guy offers doesn't mean you have to say yes.

A miscarriage is not murder because you did not make a conscious decision to end the life of the unborn child.

I didn't say I don't believe in the morning after pill, I don't know how it works. But, if it works by killing a fertilized egg, I would personally not use it because I believe life starts at the moment of conception. This is the same reason I won't use the IUDs that work by not allowing the fertilzed egg to get where it needs to go to survive.

i am like you i do believe in the etenuating cicumstances but the reason i am saying somehing is because i noticed you put "spread your legs". I am not trying to be rude but every time i read or hear that it seems like people-not you-are saying the woman shouldnt have spread their legs.

its not just the woman and i think people shouldnt say that bc it seems like everyone blames it on the woman and it takes more than just one person to laydown and have a baby.

i am not degrading you or being rude but i just want to know why it seems to be just one persons fault

because there are no police chases involved

BTW, why don't you aprove of the morning after pill. Don't tell me it's murder to the day after. I think life starts then, but its still not the same as ripping out a fetus. Some christian girls have herbal abortions, which is wrong.

Personally, I think the catholics might be on to something. If there were no condom or birth control pills, we'd have huge families like our grandparents averaging like 12 kids. Not the current two or three we have now. Think about that for a minute.
Sure, we'd have more STD's and AID's, but we'd also have so many more brothers and sisters.

That would be like saying couples who have trouble producing children and go to a clinic. Whatever fertilized eggs that fail are murder. That isn't the case. We have more compassion than that.

OMG...this Scarlett Rose "thing" never ceases to amaze me. She spouts off at the mouth about religious fanatics and how crazy they are, blah blah blah. I don't think she realizes that she's preaching as well.

She makes some ridiculous points. The main one that she makes that is compeltely asinine is that AIDS and tumors are living organisms. This is true, but AIDS and tumors don't have heartbeats and circulatory systems, and they definitely won't develop into a human being.

I am pro-life through and through. I don't believe that abortion is right...EVER. I think these people who are so fanatical about a woman's right to choose are just that...fanatics. I think they're so hung up on proving that women should be able to do this and that with their bodies, they're losing sight of the bigger picture...they when a person has an abortion, they are killing a living being. Part of them. Their child.

I also believe that *most* pro-choice people (mainly those who have had abortions) are completely selfish. If I had a nickel for every time I've heard someone who has had an abortion or who was contemplating having one say "I don't want to go through 9 months of hell." or "I'm too young to be a mother." or "this will ruin my life!", I'd be sitting up on top of a HUGE friggin' pile of nickels. It's sad. V v v sad.

As far as i am concerned abortion is murder!
The reason i say this is i have a friend who has just had very premature twins, they were born at the age it is still legal to have an abortion & after weeks of serious medical treatment they are now very healthy little babies! To see those little babies when they were first born noone (including the doctors) thought they would ever survive, specially being the youngest gestation babies born in Australia... But to know that they were fully formed and little human beings at the same age it is legal to terminate it is disgustiong people can still kill their babies like that!
I'm sorry but even when a girl has been raped it might be considered but that baby never did anything wrong and does not deserve to die, if she chooses not to keep it there are plenty of people out there who cant have babies and would love to provide a life for it

Because the people who believe it isn't murder are in denial. It is just like why more and more teens are having sex, because "everyone else is doing it". Well, same goes for abortions, "everyone else is doing it" so they think it is ok. Of course, there are consequences from having unprotected sex. So there will also be for abortions. And whoever thinks that abortions and miscarriages are the same is wrong. They are not the same. The body decides whether or not the fetus stays. Who are we to play GOD? Abortions cannot be justified.

Is having a miscarriage Murder? Do we throw all women who have a spontaneous abortion into jail because their body rejected the fetes? Of course not. So, why is it murder if science intervenes? I believe that when a fetes can live outside the womb without artificial means, it can then be considered a human being and not before.

This is not my opinion, but I've heard this one before from someone else. Her answer was, the baby isn't alive and it's a fetus. I guess, they don't consider a fetus a living being. So, because a fetus isn't quite living or considered alive, then it isn't consider murder.
