ok, so i like shopping. i usually go w/ my mom, but this yr, i got birthday money from my grandma ($100!! I cudnt believe it!) and i decided to save it so i cud spend it on back-to-school shopping.
but today, my family and I were going 2 dinner and i put my glasses in this proper case and put it into my bag (i kno u have no idea where this is going). but there was also a water bottle in my bag, and it kinda leakes all over the place, so I had to take everything out. the case that my glasses were in was drenched, so i took my glasses out and asked my mom for her sunglass case, which is this soft flexible weird case, so i put it in there, waited for the bag to dry, and put the case in the bag again. but then, when we came home, my mom knocked over my bag by accident, and all my stuff fell out, so she was picking it up when she found a broken pair of glasses. it had fallen out of the flexible case and the lens had come off.
so she took away my bday money!!!& i was so excitd 2 go shopng

No, it doesn't sound fair and hopefully in time, you'll be able to resolve it to your liking. Meanwhile, just realize parents can be very strange and sometimes do stuff for "no" apparent reason.

Sh*t happens. Hope you get your money back.

That is not fair at all. That money was a gift and had nothing to do with her. The lens should be able to be popped back in with a new screw. Not that big of a deal. It's not like you left them laying around and sat on them or something irresponsible like that.

Fair would be you paying 1/2 of the cost of the repair of the glasses out of your $100, with the remainder to be yours for shopping.

That would be fair.

responsibility is a good thing to teach children, but did she know what you wanted to do with your money? i can only quess she was in a money bind and really wanted to make sure you had your glasses. if i were the mom,i would tell you if didn't have the money at that time and could i borrow your money, temporary till i could give it back to you. i would have felt it was my fault since i knocked it over. she probably didn't mean to knock it over, but fair is fair and she should have covered the cost.

that was wrong for her to do things happen and do accidents you didnt mean to and for her to take your b day money is not correct and she as an adult and parent should know better.you really need to talk to her or maybe even say something to your grandma maybe she will talk to your mother good luck if she doesnt give it back ask her if shes going to pay the extra 100.00 for your clothes

Even though she took your money to repair the broken classes, they are your parents, and they are responsible for getting you things you need for school. So don't worry about it.

it isn't fair, but was it the right thing to do.
I mean are your parents strapped for money and really need your money to replace the glasses?
If not then Mom needs to buy another rule book.

Tell her she couldn't take it away it wasn't from her and she's the one that broken them by knocking over your bag right?

doesn't really matter cause the money will return back to you when your parents buy you school cloths. So either way you still get what you want.
