well, considering you're on answers, you already have a yahoo account... so why does it even matter?

You may need to set up an account with Yahoo but since you're already here I assume you done that. There is no charge for Yahoo messenger itself. If you use messenger to call someone on the phone there may be a charge but I don't think it's coming from Yahoo.

Your Yahoo ID serves for messenger, yahoo mail, yahoo answers, and even yahoo shopping. So, the answer is Yes, you need to subscribe to Yahoo (which you already have).

Yes...you need to sign up and open a e-mail account,in order to create your Yahoo ID. But...if you are in answers.yahoo, you already have a suscription to yahoo...
