If it was clean then no..probably as long as there was nothing such as blood or body fluids on it then u have nothing to worry about. Plus u usually only get diseases from coming into contact with someone who has a dissease such as having sex, using unsterilized needles etc. if u dont think ur friend has a disease then i wouldnt really worry about it

Yes you most certainly can, and anyone who says otherwise is just plain stupid. Bacterial infections CAN and WILL be transmitted in that way, and can cause boils or folliculitis (blisters) of the skin, which is not something you would want. Never share towels with someone else, or use the same towel over again. Gyms are especially good places to catch such organisms, since sweating and heat are a good way to grow bacteria fast.

Yes,you most certainly can.....I got Impetigo from using my son's towel. The pediatrician warned me not to use any towel or wash cloth I had used on him but I forgot. It wasn't from touching his lesions because I WAS careful about that. Certain viruses are very hardy and are frequently transmitted by touching contaminated surfaces. If your friend had used the towel and had a contagious skin condition you could get it but if the towel had been properly washed there would be little likelyhood. Just think how often one uses towels others have used before....hotels,gyms, school, hospitals, etc. Proper laundering should minimize bacteria and viruses so clean towels are fine. If you're not sure its clean don't use it.

I'm not sure about catching "diseases" from sharing towels but you most certainly can catch serious bacterial infections, etc from sharing towels, razors, toothbrushes and other personal items, even cigarettes. One thing that can be passed this way from one person to another is "Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus". Basically, it is antibiotic resistant staph infection....you REALLY don't want to get this one, especially if you have any kind of illness that already compromises your immune system! To find out more about it, do a Google search, or check the sources listed below....and do a search for MRSA

Using a used towel from someone else is very bad hygene. Your mom is right to be disgusted.

(Giggles) No you can't get any diseases that way unless the person has a contagious skin condition. And most skin conditions aren't. But your mom was probably disgusted because that's kinda unsanitary if your friend used it cuz all the dirt they washed out of their skin can go into yours.

No actual diseases that I know of however you can get Scabies- a mite that burrows under the skin causing a rash and itching. Crabs- also a mite that feeds on blood.

there is a possibility you can get infected especially if the person who owns the towel is sick.
