Illegal Immigration is ALWAYS a hot issue over here. It's just a little more pronounced than usual at the moment. There is always a lot of chest-beating going on, and always talk and promises of things to be done about it. But nothing ever seems to work.
I can't really comment on it extensively, though. I'm not anywhere near the border; and what few illegals there are around here aren't impacting MY chances of finding a job.

David Cameron is the new leader of the Liberal Party in England ... they are getting mighty peeved about illegals in England too, and watching the debate in the U.S. eagerly ...
And yes, just like the British people are ready to pounce, so should we ... I will certainly pounce on a few politicians here come November ....

It has been noted by both sides of the media that I have heard and read, that Americans are increasingly displeased with how our Senators and President are not listening to the people. So, he is right about that. Americans are ready and not just on this little ole forum. It is being stated time in again. I missed Pat Buchanan today, but would love to hear him more. He is actually going to be on AIRAMERICA tomorrow morning. I will not miss that... Great Question Hadenough..

That is interesting, the first I have heard of this (ty 4 posting).
Pureheaven and Mimi both make great points.
England is supposed to be one of our strongest allies, could be that he is letting the Pres. know that it's time to do something, maybe actually listen to what the citizens want.
I don't mind the statement, it lets me know that at least somewhere OUR voices ARE being HEARD.
And yes I feel that we are roaring, and yes pouncing is a possibility.

Probably not. Mexican immigrants are a net plus, and assimilate quickly. Many Americans are annoyed nevertheless, because they cut in line in getting in, they appear to take "our jobs" but mostly do not, and a tiny fraction says stupid stuff about taking back California for Mexico. But an equal number of Americans realize Mexicans are getting a better life, are helping our economy, and are proud to become Americans. So, I expect a fence will eventually go up, but that there will be little or no effort to send home the tens of millions that are here. And the spigot will probably be left fairly wide open, but perhaps with a little more control.
But, what do I know...

The one hopeful aspect of Cameron's statement is that Bush seems to genuinely care about what Britain thinks. Maybe just maybe, Bush will finally understand that this problem is so significant that even prominent figures outside the US are voicing concerns for the attitude of Bush and his Administration.

Comparing the people to a lion was a good example. The American people are using their voices and I believe will attack if something isn't done soon.

Well, I would assume that he is forming his opinion on what he reads in the paper or sees in the news.
It is interesting to read/hear about a foreign countries issue in our own media and then actually hear/read their news clip on the same issue. Really, two different perspectives most of the time.

How is it that the whole world knows how angry we are except for President Bush and his cronies? Are these American leaders blind or just blithering idiots?
