My PC's power supply says it supplies DC -12V 14A. Can I use this power supply without modding? I know I can combine all the yellow (-12V) and black (Ground) cords together to make this possible.

To be precise, this is a Bestec 250W power supply I am using.

I don't see why not.
I use pc power supplies all the time for all kinds of things, but I don't remember ever trying to pull that much current out of one. .. I guess it's possible since 12V*14A=168W
The 250 W must be peak peak power rating and you probably don't want to run it at peak for very long periods of time.

They're great power supplies.

okay if your talking about the power cord then as long as the component that your trying to plug it into has the same specifications and male and female ends then you might be able to. A general rule of thumb with cords is it's better to buy a new one from some one who can tell you what their they are doing then it is to splice a old one or try to repair an old one. Okay now as far as your question goes I'm going to assume you got a few things wrong, so just remember it only takes two amps across the heart to kill you, I could be wrong on that figure. The best advise I can give to you is not to mess with it if you are not under a professionals supervision while your doing it or bet yet don't try it at all.

very just about all case followers run off 12V (volts). in case you sense gentle with stripping the wires you would possibly want to purchase a 12V skill adapter from Radio Shack and splice the wires at the same time. Or likely use some 12V batteries.
