I know it sounds crazy, but there has got to be an easir way than what I have tried so far. I have lots and lots of ripe peaches just waiting to become cobblers and pies and various other desserts, but I am struggling with the peels.

Take a sharp knife and cut a shallow x on the end opposite to the stem end. Poach the marked peaches in boiling water for about a minute or until you can pull up the skin with a knife. Shock the peaches in ice water to stop cooking. Using the side of a knife and your nail, pull off the peach skins in long pieces--it should come off easily.

You can peel tomatoes the same way.

Try using an apple peeler. I believe they sell them at Wal-Mart or can be purchased from companies such as Pampered Chef. You just stick the apple (or peach in this case) on the spike and rotate a handle to quickly peel the whole thing. Nicer ones can even core and slice at the same time.

the only way I know is to take a knife and cut the peel off starting from the top to the bottom and repeat until it's done. It shouldn't take that long

Drop them in boiling water for just a few seconds then remove them and put them in very cold water. After that the skin practically falls off.
