Millions of people go through terrible things, only to have that
take them to greater heights as a human being. So why do some
hate?
Is it because they can't stand themselves? And the reason they
can't stand themselves is because of the selfish way they act?

Well... I was never a "hater" or a racist... but after living in a small town that was pre-dominantly White and me being the only Hispanic, I can say I became racist... In reality I can't say I'm 100% racist but I'll be racist until I get to know the person....
Hate is taking your feelings to an extreme level because of experiences you've had in your life with others that were different.

Hi. I think its an evolutionary thing. Like touching a burning stick and finding out its hot. You teach your children not to touch the burning stick (or to hate Shi'i, or Sunni, or people of a different color, or the homeless, etc). Passes on from one generation to the next. Not the same as hating an individual.
