I don't live in NY but if I were you I'd find out if I should because NYC is popular and a magnet for people dining out. Serendipity might probably need reservations due to the ratio of customers and avaiable seats.

They don't really take over the phone reservations...there is a answering machine which answers all calls. You might be able to do a walk in reservation a couple of weeks in advance.
*note* even if they did take your reservation....there might still be a slight wait upon arrival.

Max Brenner P*Ong I recommended those 2 on your previous query. i think of you will like Max Brenner. i think they take reservations. although in the event that they do no longer, the gap is gigantic sufficient that somebody would be leaving as you arrive so the wait will no longer be that long. P*Ong is a valid eating place and as such can get costly.

You just gotta go there and put your name on the list....be prepared to wait 2 hours on a weekend so just go with that in mind and hang out outside, down the block at the candyshop or whatever.

You probably should just in case, but usually it's not necessary. I went once and only had to wait 10 minutes for lunch. I'm not sure about dinner.
