This helped a friend of mine.

Cut back gradually on the amount you drink till you stop
.
Take the kid or the dog or the whole family for a walk after supper. Light exercise releases a natural relaxing hormone and that will help you need less RUM to get relaxed.

As you continue to reduce the rum, you will find you can walk farther with each passing day/night. In time you will not need any rum or so little you will wonder why you used to need it.

Need some psychological help?
Just imagine your liver all swollen, covered with scar tissue as if it had been too close to a fire. That is what your liver will look like if you continue to drink every night. I watched two friends die of liver failure, it was hideous. Their abdomen swelled up like a watermelon, they were in horrible pain, they smelled worse than a barn yard because the body was filling with toxins. Their skin turned yellow than kinda grayish yellow even the eyes. My one friend looked straight at me about ten hours before he died and his eyes were yellow, like the eyes of a snake. IT GAVE ME THE CREEPS!

If that doesn't help try AA I am reasonably certain they are free.

Find other hobbies to kill your time that will help keep your mind off of drinking. Turn off the TV and take your wife and kids out. I used to drink but I have cut back myself. You don't really need professional help. You just need the will power to do it and a little help from the man upstairs.

I myself quit cold turkey, but some people cant do that because not everybody is the same. Find a friend and make a bet with him or her to stop drinking, or try to get hypnotized. If i spelled that right. I dont know if that would work or not but my aunt says that it made her quit smoking. Whichever you choose good luck, sincerely!

AA is not professional have you thought of them? Do you have a problem with your drinking? Do you think you are an alcoholic? If so call your local Alcoholics Anonymous office. They will help you.

Try using diet coke or coke zero, or some cola product you dont really like, the difference might turn you off to them.
or AA is the right thing to do

I'm an alcoholic and I'll tell you what you have to do: quit completely, 100%. You seem to be looking for some way to cut down. Not in this world.

I ask myself that question all the time. Do things that don't let you have the opportunity to drink, like exercise or sports, spending time with your kid. Also, don't hang around people who like to drink, that's my main problem.
