Yes, you should ALWAYS talk to your doctor about this. Nobody knows your condition. How do you know whether you need need 2 mg or not?

Here is all the info for ativan

important part:
"Lorazepam may be habit forming. Physical and/or psychological dependence can occur, and withdrawal effects are possible if the medication is stopped suddenly after prolonged or high-dose treatment. Do not take more than the prescribed amount of medication or take it for longer than is directed by your doctor. Do not stop taking lorazepam suddenly without first talking to your doctor if you have been taking it continuously for more than 5 to 7 days. Your doctor may want to gradually reduce the dose."

So please talk to your doctor. Just call him up. And stop asking for this sorts of medical advice on yahoo. It's your mental health.

No, but you really shouldn't change your dose without doctor's supervision. If you keep increasing your dose you will habituate and become addicted to it. Then it won't be as effective when you _really_ need it. I dealt with anxiety attacks for a while, and I found that counseling, along with behavior changes and relaxation therapy helped more than anything. Now, I don't have them anymore. Don't need the ativan, either! Talk to your doc if the ativan isn't working so well anymore. Maybe you could switch over to something similar, like zanax. And seriously...see a therapist. Good luck!

Ativan is addicting. Your going to have to continue to up the dose because your body gets used to it and then it doesn't work anymore. The best thing to do for panic disorder is to take a antidepressant everyday and then take Ativan when needed. But please talk to your doctor about it.

you really should talk to your doctor.. i have panic disorder but i refuse to take pills as they are habbit forming.. my aunt was on them and she took to many one night only a few months ago and we lost her.. she took other meds as well .. but for your sake dont change a dose your doctor has given you without first consulting him. it is very dangerous to take matters into your own hands . and dont listen to everything you read on here either as someone trying to get points acts like they know what they are talking about and really dont could be harmful to you.... take care
