I don't know, but it could have been worse. At least they didn't have chemical weapons on board.

I know that I am only one person.

I know I was a small child when 9/11 happened.

I know that there is little chance that anyone will even read my answer.

But I'll share my opinion anyway.

God knows all things. ALL things. Though He DID stop one plane from hitting the white house, the World Trade Center was still destroyed, along with most people inside, and those who heroically answered the call of duty. But 9/11 HELPED our nation also. It made people question their beliefs, and search for answers. Could this not be God's way of bringing more people to Christ? Perhaps the lives lost were nothing compared to the lives gained. Did the experience not strengthen and unite us? Did it not help us to look away from ourselves for just a moment and perhaps focus on the greater good? We cannot understand all that God does, for He knows the past, present, and future. If we understood all He did, we would not be human.

In short? There is good in every situation. We just have to look for it. We may never know all the answers, but at least we can strive to see them.

So let us change the things we can, accept the things we can't change, and have the wisdom to know the DIFFERENCE.

God gave humans free will, or a choice. Without a choice there would be no way for humans to truely love god. God wants humans to chose good but when humans do not chose good, the opposite is evil. God did not cause 9/11 nor did he want it to happen but it happened because some people chose to use god's gift of free will wrong. If god stopped 9/11 from happening he would have done away with free will which would have made it impossible for humans to truely love him.

Why didn't God stop Hurricane Katrina? And that big tsunami that killed all those thousands of people? And Jon Benet Ramsey's murder, and my toenail fungus infection, and that darn leaky faucet, and...,

Why do you seem to think we are deserving of an easy ride through life? Who are we that God should cater to our every whim and do as he's told?

To blame God for every tragedy in life is to miss the big picture. While there is certainly suffering in the world, life on earth is only a minute fraction of what's really going on. I could get hit by a bus tomorrow, and my life here would be over. But I'd simply be beginning a whole new existance in a much better place.

The bible says those who love this life will lose it. We should live our lives focused on eternity. If we can do that, we suddenly have less enthusiasm for destroying, maiming, murdering, insulting, and hating others.

What happened on 9/11 was perpetrated by evil people who were focused on intentionally inflicting pain. They face God's judgement for their actions, so will we all.

The irony is that he could have prevented a dozen other 9/11 s and we will never know. He could have prevented nuclear disaster during the Cuban missile crises.

All we know is that he did not prevent it. Was this for a higher purpose or just to let humans have agency? Maybe both. The worst disaster brings out the best in people. It can also lead to the elimination of an evil that could not have otherwise been challenged.

All events occur as a reaction to earlier events. God didn't stop 9/11 from happening because He allowed us our choices. We chose the events that eventually led to 9/11. If we had thought through our actions, we probably could've avoided it.

Just think of Him as the ultimate parent. He knows that you could get drunk and get in a car accident. He warns you, He advises you, but in the end, it's your life. If you drink and drive, you will get hurt. He'll be there to pick up the pieces and not judge you for your choices, but He can't make your choices for you. And you wouldn't want Him to.

God is not a control freak, he has given every one the free will to make good and bad decisions. The terrorist were influenced by people with extreme disregard for life....At the same time so many good people came together in one spirit to help and support the victims of this terrible tragedy, and that united spirit can only come from God. Otherwise no one would care at all.

Do you have any idea how much God HAD stopped from happening? No you don't, I can imagine He has stopped quite a bit from happening since we are all here to ask about it. If God stopped every bad thing from happening, what would be possibly learn from it? Dont forget God gave us free will, so we do have to learn what happens when we choose evil over good.

I think that if there was a god, he wouldn't have control over the situation. Because 9/11 was caused by people, not a god/goddess.

Everything has a reason, and a significance in this life time. God knows what he's doing, and only he knows why that day he called back soooo many of his children. As a New Yorker who lost a few friends---I know the void that there is and has been from that day, but you have to see that no one died in vain---gone but never forgotten. Isn't it ironic how the FIRST person to be declared dead was a priest?

If there is a god, from whichever religion he is able, but then again, it is a bit like game theory. If he stops one, he has to stop them all, we will never learn etc etc.

At the end of the day, people minding their own business were killed en mass by some really quite disgusting people. Hopefuly we will learn one day.
