I was just wondering how often you men and women prioritize your gf/bf, over important people in your life...like your family? I was thinking today, and I realized that there have been times when I put my past bf's first and above my family....even my own mother. I feel bad about it now, and i'd like to think that since i've matured, I wouldn't do that again because I know the value of family and men come and go. How many of you have caught yourself doing that? For instance, while you're on the phone with your bf/gf, your mom calls and you DON'T pick up her call. Yet, the next time you're on the phone with your mom, your bf/gf calls and you get off the phone with her to talk with them. Lol Dang, I sound like a horrible daughter right now. Anyway, you can say what you want about me, but are there any people here honest enough to admit that they've been the same way when they're in relationships?

I think you're too serious about some stuff. Well, choosing your SO over your family for some things is normal. You will find a need to start your own family, and you need to prioritize it. I mean, you're talking about pretty small things. It's not that you're letting your dad bleeding to death because you want to kiss your bf.

The family is the most important thing that we have and a bf/gf should know that. If you loose a family you cannot replace them. We have to be careful and analyze all the situation because something bad can happen.
what I mean is that we have to balance everything is like a mom having a new baby and put all her 100% attention on the new born which seem something normal but for the husband sometime he will feel like it have been left out. we always have to try to give eveybody the attention that they deserve.
I hope I help you. Have a good day and take care.

My parents and family have always been first. My bf's always came third because school came 2nd. At times my bf did come before my parents and now that i think about it it looks bad. But when your in the relationship you just want to be with them and figure your parents will always be there for you, no matter what.

I have caught myself doing this before, but am quick to catch myself... because I too know how important my family is! Don't feel horrible I think that even the most family-oriented person on this earth has done it at one point in their life! Now that you know it will be an easy habit to break!!

I'm sure your family and friends understood b/c they have done the same thing at some point. I agree with what Roberto said. It wasn't like you got off the phone and left someone dying on the other end.

My buddies i've known for 14+ years each, the main 4 guys at least. Girlfriends have came and gone but the 4 guys have been buds for a long time, so anytime anyone tries to break us up they hit the road.

For something trivial yes, but not for important things. For example, I might leave my mom to talk to someone else on the phone, but if my mom needs me to drive her to the pharmacy to pick up some medicine then a date could be delayed or called off.

I would say I do that too, and too often. After a relationship ends you're left wondering why you did that for a guy. Oh well, I guess this gives us an opportunity to not do it again. Good luck.

your family should always be there for you, they should understand that when your in love you live for the minute, it's nothing to feel guilty about. you will always be there with your family. Don't feel guilty unless your mom was in the hospital seriously ill or something.

I think that everyone's done it at some point. That's the great thing about family, they understand.
