do you think the u.s military or any other significant military power could take over the world all by itself, no alliances or neutrality treaties, etc and if so why?

The US no.
The people would not stand for it and revolt.
EU To soft and fuzzy right now. No will to enforce any thing.
Look at what they will send to Lebanon to keep peace, almost nothing.
China. Like the US. it has the ability but The will of the people would stop them.
If a super power did try to attempt a total take over it would be resisted.

Military power comes from economic power. If you stop making $$ you can't make guns anymore. Watch as the US economy tanks and takes the military power with it. As power of idiots rise, the power of nations go down.

No irealy dont think that any1 power could take over the world and heres why napolien tried to do that and he failed cuz when he invaded russia he lost the war. Hitler tried to take over the world and he also failed. these are just two of many people who have tried to take over the world and failed so personaly i dont think any1 could take over the world

i think the united states goverment has already set forth a plan to do so but they realise that an open attack would draw back too much fire and therefor use fear of terrorism to control its citizens. i do not believe that the war in iraq has much to do with terrorism, sounds to me like they just want power.
