Ok first of all, once you turn 18 you are basically free to do what you please. I would be rather upset if my parents didn't let me date till I was 26 and would more than likely rebel. I think if you care enough about your education then you will stay focused anyway, regardless of if you have a guy in your life or not. Since you are only 13 right now, i'm going to say give it a couple years because you're kinda young to be worried too much about dating right now anyway. Keep your focus on your education and then when you turn 15 or 16 and your parents see how well you are doing and how determined you are, then maybe they will lighten up and let you make that decision instead of making it for you. It is possible to keep your sites on your future and date at the same time. Good luck and I hope my advice helps!

Once you turn 18, you can start dating whoever you want. There's nothing your mom can do about it at that point. I will turn 21 in about a few weeks and I am still a single guy. But even if I did started dating and my parents were pissed about it, I wouldn't care. So yeah, your mom is totally out of control and definitely needs some serious help with understand the difference in adulthood. No offense.

If you are going to be living with your parents during college, and they are paying for your education, then you have to do what they say.
But if you get an apartment with a friend or live in a dorm and have a scholarship or something, once you turn 18, YOU CAN DO WHAT EVER YOU WANT!! Whether they want you to date or not!! It's your life...If you think you can handle dating and your education, go for it. Just don't lose sight of your goals. If you start having sex, use protection. Because if you end up pregnant, there goes your chances of going to college!!!
I suspect you are a Christian? Am I right? And from what I understand, your parents would not agree to an abortion if you were to get pregnant. So, just be careful. Keep yourself protected. Keep focused. I'm sure you'll do fine...No one I know has ever waited until they were 26 to date!!! lol

You can do what you want once you turn 18. I think no dating until you are 26 is a bit extreme. I see her point about getting distracted, but there is a lot of emotional growth that goes on during your dating experiences that you will miss out on. See if you can get her to let you date as long as your grades are good. Letting her control your life until you are 26 is going to be really hard on both of you.

Well, my parents joke that I'm not aloud to date until I'm 26 too and I'm 12 right now but I don't believe them and I don't listen either since I've already had a boyfriend.
Don't worry you're mom is probably going to let you date about 16/17 thats normal.

I don't think she's serious about this 26 thing but you're 13 wait until you're a bit older and hear what she says about it then you can complain lets say 15 16 .

Okay, your mom can only tell you you cannot date until you are 26, you do not have to follow that ruling. When you are 18 you are a legal adult and can date if you want to. So follow her rule until you are legally an adult and then if you want to date - do so. You do not have to tell her you are dating, but you don't have to follow her rule any longer. Good luck.

Well..I am a mom, but I wouldn't restrict my daughter not to date intil she is 26. Thats crazy. (Even as much as I dread that time.) BUt I don't see why you couldn't date when your 16. But if she won't allow you too..18 your adult and then really she can't stop you. Just remember to use your head and be smart about it. good luck.
