The question, "What is the most difficult language in the world?" is meaningless. Whether a language is difficult or easy for someone learning it depends on his/her own mother tongue. Thus, it might be hard work for someone from Poland to learn English, but quite easy to learn Russian. By the same token, a Vietnamese might find it easy to learn Chinese, but he/she will have a big problem trying to learning Norwegian.
So you see, the degree of difficulty in leaning a foreign language depends on several factors and your question cannot be answered as it stands.

One of my sources says that Janpanese is the most difficult language, and another source says that Japanese is second to Hungarian. Arabic is right in there as one of the most difficult too. It is agreed that the difficulty of any particular language depends on the first language one knows.. whether it is similar or very different from the one to be learned. English is not on the list, but English is difficult.

As a learner of Chinese, as well as being an English teacher in China, I'd have to say that the difficulties to learning English as a second language are comparable. Where we have grammatical hell, they have many words spelt the same but meaning different things in different tones, as well as an incredibly complex writing system.

So I'd say it's on par with English.

No. All languages are equally difficult in an absolute sense. It all depends on what languages you already know.
