I had exactly the same problem with my dog, she is a lil dog scared of everything... paranoia is an understatement...
OK firstly get ur dog to like the actual toothpaste. I did this with my dog for a whole week just letting her lick the paste off my hand.
then i progressed onto putting the paste onto the brush and letting her lick that...yet again another few days lapsed.
Then i began putting the brush into her mouth with the paste on it and getting her to eat the paste with the brush inside her mouth.
3 weeks later (and tons of patience) i can now gently brush her teeth.... but i built up gradually from brushing a few teeth to eventually brushing all her gnashers.
Patience is a huge virtue with dogs.. hope this helps

i might start up by using letting the canine lick the toothpaste of my finger. If the canine does not like the flavor of the toothpaste, you could try yet another style. Then try rubbing your finger on his tooth with the toothpaste on it. as quickly as she's accepting that, try the comb back. If she basically hates the comb, try making use of the finger brush somewhat or a chew of unpolluted cotton gauze wrapped around your finger. this finished technique might take some days. additionally, you in elementary terms might desire to scrub the exterior of the tooth, up on the gumline. i come across the least perplexing thank you to do the brushing is to hold the canine jaws gently close, open somewhat pocket to slip the comb into(basically pull her cheek out somewhat) and artwork from there. Did you're taking a glance at your canine's tooth first? If there is any redness on the gumline, or in the event that they bled once you brushed in the present day, the canine's gums could be too painful to tolerate brushing and he will pick a expert cleansing. you could brush after it somewhat is carried out. ETA: your canine seems very very like mine! ;)

Put the tooth paste on your finger and let him lick it. Then gently open his mouth and brush a little. Constantly stopping to give him a treat, and reassuring words. like "good dog".... It might take awhile for him to get used to it. But keep trying, and remember to try and make it positive, if you get mad or upset, the dog will pick up on it. If he gets nervous, just stop for a few mins, and try again. :) good luck!

Did you get a finger toothbrush? More dogs will tolerate that. Be very gentle and patient and only do a bit at a time at first. He'll get used to it.

One word for you: GREENIES
They are shaped and look like toothbrushes, and they're green, and they are for brushing your dog's teeth. My dogs breath could kill a grown grizzly bear before I started giving them Greenies to chew on. They just chew on them and eat them, and it does all the work for you. I got mine online, but I think Wal-Mart or Target has them too. They're kinda expensive but well worth the money...trust me.}}}}}}

Don't waste your time or money on dental products for pets.....as dumb as this sounds,there are dog foods specifically designed to clean his teeth as he chews.
Get him some rawhide chew toys too!
