The mere change mere change in identity, form, or place of organization (from one U.S. state to another, but not to a foreign country) of one corporation, however effected is known as an "F Reorg". It is a non-taxable event as described in Internal Revenue Code Section 368(a) (1) (F). Make sure that you attach the appropriate disclosure to the corporate tax return for the year of change.

The state that you are in has nothing to do with your federal tax ID #. But, you should register with the new state.

You cannot change the state of your incorporation because that has already been done. If you move your corporation to another state and register it, you can keep your FEIN.
