Sounds to me like he is bi-polar or schitzophrenic so you need to take him to the doc.

Why do you ask if the behavior is normal? His behavior & moods may be caused by biological, emotional, or mental disorders. At 6 years old, many do not want to label a young child with a disorder. Professional help may be the answer. You must compare other children his age in the area as well.

could just be ADHD....should go to a doctor though. And it also depends on how often the mood swings occur, and when they occur. Do you happen to notice things to trigger these sudden changes? There at plenty of possibilities. I do not know personally your experiences with this person but remember, some children are prone to acting "strange" if you will when their younger but six seems a little old for the kind of behavior your referring to.

Hard to say....depends on how things are in his home environment. Do his parents fight and argue? Is his the youngest of his siblings? Does he get abused or beat up a lot?

That could account for his behaviour. People are always looking to cure things with a pill...they have to look at the cause and not the symptom.

It could be normal, but to what person is normal? My son is that way and when he was in first grade, we had him tested and he is ADHD/ADD. He was seven when diagnosed. He's fourteen now and still goes through those moods. But to me he's normal and I try to help him change the mood. It doesn't work all the time.
