You ARE kidding... right? Mexican politics are even worse than ours!
--------------
The nation's capital was rocked this week by the release of a videotape that appeared to show a local legislator and trusted ally of Mayor Andrés Manuel López Obrador, considered Mexico's most popular politician, accepting a $45,000 bribe.

another televised tape showed Mexico City's finance minister, Gustavo Ponce, gambling in a Las Vegas casino... the city prosecutor to announce that he had been investigating the finance minister in connection with the awarding of $3 million in contracts for public works that were never completed.
---
Considering that control by fragmentation was more of a motivator than advancing democracy, those who drafted the political reforms failed to consider electoral shifts, or to take into account levels of opportunism and corruption. This myopia has encouraged political freeloaders, who make the formation of new parties their livelihood. This in turn has brought about economic and politically motivated alliances between contradicting ideologies, people and cliques who also deadlock reform indicatives so they can continue to receive vast amounts of public funds provided through loopholes.

Insofar as political scandals, corruption and cronyism have now been publicly exposed in Mexico, there is a growing public outcry to do away with excessive members of congress, political parties and financial pilferage. A mood that does not set an auspicious tone for 2006 and what will definitely be an antagonistic and disputed election year.

Well I wouldn't consider those other US territories such as Puerto Rico or Guam States if that's what you mean by 51 and 52. Plus Mexico would more than likely keep it's 31 states so the US would be a total of 81 states not 53 or 51 if it did become part of the US.

Maybe they would do something like that but not without a war. I don't think the Mexican government would volunteer to become a part of the US because well every President up to this day has "borrowed" millions from the US and yet Mexico's economy hasn't changed.

I heard somewhere they wanted to do this European thing where the people from Mexico or Canada would be able to travel freely across the 3 countries but that won't happend either because as long as the economy in Mexico stays the way it is, terrorists will bribe Mexicans to get in.

Perhaps it's because Mexico is NOT the USA... they have an identity all their own just like Canada. Why would Mexico want such a thing??? Or Canada???

Hard for some americans to understand but give it a try - it might work.

Good question...when we bought the Louisiana purchase, immigration wasn't the issue...but all those folks became Americans...not a bad idea. But I don't think those folks in power in Mexico would go along with it. Most of the citizens would..I mean with our minimum wage being 10x theirs.

As long as they learn English - why not...the french did in the Louisiana purchase, and they fit right in. All those hard working Mexicans would add alot to this country, like the Italians, and Germans and Chinese and...fill in the blank...welcome to freedom, lady liberty would be proud! God Bless America

I want to be a United States citizen not a citizen of the American Continent Union.

I like the idea of separate countries. I don't want peoples of other countries re-writing our Constitution.

I think that Mexico should be a U.S. territory instead of actually being apart of the U.S.
