when my daughter was 6 she would be at her best after no less than 10 hours sleep of a night.
they are much more active at this age and need their rest, i also found she was much better behaved when she had a longer sleep.

10 - 12 hours. We do most of our growing in our sleep. Sleep is a time for our bodies to adjust and process. Children need all the sleep they can get.

10 hours or more. Bedtime doesn't have to mean sleep. You can say.. ok it's time for bed but you can read your books or listen to music but you have to be in bed. Kids need to learn early to give themselves permission to relax and to learn to be happy alone and resting.

8 hours. Their metabolism is so high, they need the rest to fully recover.
