Bacon Mushroom Swiss Meatloaf

INGREDIENTS:
12 ounces chopped raw bacon
1 small white onion, chopped
5 button mushrooms, chopped
1 1/2 pounds extra-lean ground beef
1 egg
1/4 cup evaporated milk
6 ounces shredded Swiss cheese, divided
1/2 cup corn flake crumbs

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place bacon in a skillet and cook over medium heat until the pieces are browned. Remove with a slotted spoon to paper towels. Discard all but 1 tablespoon of bacon grease. Stir in onions and mushrooms, and cook until soft. Remove from heat.
In a large bowl, stir together beef, egg, and milk. Stir in the onion and mushrooms. Mix in about 4 ounces of Swiss cheese, and all but 1 tablespoon of bacon. Stir in cornflake crumbs, and mix until well blended. Shape into a loaf, and place in a meatloaf pan.
Bake in a preheated oven for 1 hour. Drain fat, and sprinkle with remaining cheese and bacon. Return to oven, and bake until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes.

Meat sauce for pasta.

Heat some olive oil in fry pan - add chopped onion and garlic - stir alot and cook for about 5 min. Add chopped green pepper and ground beef - brown the beef. Drain the beef and veggies - add a can or 2 of tomato puree or plain tomato sauce. Add pepper and basil to taste. Heat through - serve over favorite pasta.

Oh - add a little red wine with the sauce too if you like.

Easy.
Brown hamburger with some minced onion or minced onion flakes, salt, pepper, and a little garlic salt. While browning meat, cook some minute rice. Then sprinkle flour over the browned hamburger, coating it with flour. Then add half milk and half water and simmer till desired consistency. Serve over rice, and your ready to eat!!!
Very good too.

Or you can brown your hamburger w/ onion & seasonings, boil some noodles, and add spagetti sauce or even alfredo sauce to the meat, and serve. Toasted Garlic Sourdough is always a great addition to it as well.

Or you can of course make up some classic ground beef patties, mixed in with onions & seasonings or a packet of dry ranch dressing. Slice up potatos and fry up for your own homemade french fries too.

And, if you use it a lot, you can brown extra hamburger & seasonings, and store it in Ziplock freezer bags in your freezer. You can pull it out anytime, you won't have any greasy mess, and its ready to throw in any dish or recipe for a even quicker meal.

Americanized hungarian goulash: Brown 2 large onions, sliced, in oil or butter in a large skillet. Add 2-3 tbs of paprika and 1 tbs of crushed caraway seed. Add browned ground beef. Add one green pepper sliced, and 2 16 oz cans of diced tomatoes. Add 1-2 cups of beef broth, and simmer for about 45 minutes. Serve over macaroni noodles.

TRY THIS!! I fry about half pound of hamburg and while you are browning it, just keep chopping it up until it is course. Add half bottle of Kraft BBQ sauce, then heat. We use this for the chili on our hotdogs but my husband loves it on just plain toasted bread or buns like a sloppy joe! Inexpensive and very good!! If you want to add onions, other veggies, that is fine. Hot sause will give it a kick, but my husband cannot tolerate it. But just a small amount of meat and BBQ sauce, you are ready to go!!!

hmm...ground beef is definitely a staple in my household! ;-)
instead of buying hamburger helper, buy pasta and sauce and make it yourself--you can make easy macaroni with cooked ground burger, your favorite sauce(hunts four cheese!), spices, and macaroni or other kind of pasta(corksrews, etc.). or make mac n cheese and add hamburger to it..add some spices to it, like garlic powder, onion powder, and some salt and pepper and it will taste pretty good.
sloppy joes are a classic too. i really love manwich bold(not regular). just don't buy the bbq version..it's not too good.
hope you get some good recipes! ;-)
