I will swat my cats from time to time and use a water gun on them. They hate it when I slap my hand with a rolled up newspaper, they don't like the noise. I'm glad to see you are wanting them to behave, cats can get really mean if not kept under control. And mine like to be played with and not just get into trouble.

It depends where they're jumping. be open about some places like chairs & maybe even the coffee table, Leave good high places open to their enjoyment like the top of bookcases. My girls love the top of my 6 ft tall bookcase, it's the lion in them. Be firm and very consistant about places not ok, such as the kitchen table stove and countertops. Use a firm loud no, if they get the picture & jump down prase them generously If not then yes I'd recomend vinager water in the spray bottle. along with another firm No.

My cat used to jump on the kitchen table, so I put a handful of pennies in an empty soda can and stood nearby (but not at the table) waiting and watching. When he jumped on it, as soon as his feet touched the table, I shook the can REALLY HARD and FAST. It made a racket and SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF HIM! He literally flew off the table and hid for like two hours... but he hasn't jumped on the table since ( 10 years! )

My cat WILL NOT jump on counters and such. She is scared. I put double sided tape at the edges of them and after a couple times she stayed down. For 14 years now. Also, if you don't mind them getting a little wet, use a water bottle and say "DOWN!" firmly each time they jump up.

A squirt bottle works great, but follow it up by chasing them,(a good 30 seconds) that way they get to know that there is more than just a squirt from the bottle. The two work great together.

I would get a squirt gun and spray them continuously until they get down. Cats hate water and it's more effective than getting up and chasing after them every time they do it.

Put something like a piece of thin plastic or paper on whatever they are jumping on. Sometimes if they land on something that make a krinkling noise, it will scare them and they will stop.

I actually had to spank my two cats! When I moved they went over every inch of my furniture and got in all of the windows and messed up blinds and they had never done it before! I finally had to pick them up and say NO and give them a swat each time and then I would ignore them for a while. I wouldn't look at them in the eye and that drove them nuts! But it worked and they did stop.I had put pepper in the window sills and tried to tell them no but they wouldn't mind so I just spanked them. Now they never do it!Don't forget to love them in between the bad moments.Best wishes!

honestly, i just accept that they're cats and they're going to jump on stuff. it's too tiring trying to always correct them. let them be cats. you'll both be happier for it.
