Because nobody since Eve is smart enough to listen to them?
A completely irrelevant note: In the druidic religion, the serpent (I'm told) was the symbol of wisdom.

Well, snakes (serpents) didn't talk to begin with.
Eve knew animals didn't talk.
She knew the snake was being used as a medium.
That's one of the reasons the situation was serious when she turned her back on what God said how things would be if she partaken, which she did.
However, she's not the one to blame. It's Adams fault sin entered the world.

They do. You just don't speak their language. I've heard sounds
come from rocks and bushes. Native teachings.
Read in the Book of Job. Not sure what chapter, 11, 12 maybe.

Oh..they do.
A snake in the bible can be like a description or comparison to what is being described.A "snake" can be anything that slithers or hides behind things.We even call men that on some occasions when they wrong us.Or people that we know.Snakes in the grass etc..
They talk to you still.
