I don't blame him. I'd tell you the same thing if I caught you driving unsafely.

I have not only heard my husband tell people that, but have seen what happens when either high speed or drinking and driving can do to people after the wreck has happened and it isn't a pretty sight.....picture a body bag or body parts that police have to clean up when people do that. I know we have ALL been guilty of it I have been to. In a hurry and speed a little too much and it takes just a split second to cause an accident that you didn't mean to cause......It isn't just you...Police everywhere use that line!

No, but I had a trooper ask me if I was wearing my seat belt, when he pulled me over for 30mph, going down a hill out west.
I kept saying I had on my belt, and he kept saying I could not afford the speeding ticket.
After the 3rd or 4th time asking me about the seat belt, and him saying I really could not afford this speeding ticket, I told him I may not have had my seat belt on.
He sayed, and I quote " HMM, slow one aintcha?"
I got a seatbelt ticket, and a fuel conservation ticket, total of about 100 bucks.
He told me the speed limit was 55 from there on, and when I tried to explain that I saw a 65 mph sign, he told me again the speed was 55.
I said yes sir, and went on my way.
At 55mph.

No, but state troopers see so many car accidents on the interstate. He was just telling you in his way to slow down and be careful.

It is fair for him to say that . I work at a level 3 trauma center, if you had any clue what these crash sites look like, the devastation dead bodies, it really is truly horror.

Still better than "Sir, put your hands where I can see them, and step out and away from the vehicle". I used to get that all the time when I was a kid, heheheh...

But if it was an earned stop then it was good.
What don't like state troopers till you REALLY need them?

I've never had it said to me but I've said it myself a few times. Anyone that has ever had to work a fatal accident scene will understand why he would say that.

No, but I had one tell me, 'The poor bastard never had a chance driving that fast without a seat belt'. Then he cried.
