O.k. I am a little confused about the colors you stated in your post but I would say Green is a beautiful color.
May is a beautiful month to get married for sometimes, it is not too cold or too hot. Since you indicated that your fiance likes green, I think that sage green is a beautiful color for the month of May. I would also consider these colors with green;
*pink and sage green, with silver accent
*lilac(light purple) and sage green with silver accent
Click on the links below to get an idea of colors that goes well with green

1. If you want a good photographer who would allow you to keep the proofs - go to the local college and talk with the art department and get a list of students who are studying photography.
2. Make your own centerpieces or favors - http://www.wedcraft.com/kissfavor.html is the site for how to make hershey kiss roses. These are easy to make, inexpensive and don't take long to make. You can put them in bud vases on the tables.
3. Have the wedding at your church. I know that it did not cost me to have the church for the wedding because I was a member of the church. We only had to pay for the pastor and priest.
4. If you have a friend who can play the piano or organ, ask if they would make it their gift to play for your wedding. I actually asked a friend and offered to pay her, but she said, keep the music simple and she would play as her gift to me.
5. Keep your flowers simple. I know one bride who instead of a large bouquet, had a very simple 3 flower arrangement and the bridesmaids had 2 flowers.
6. Have your dress made, instead of paying $5000. You can get with an excellent seamstress who may make your dress for $100 - 200 and you only have to find a pattern that you like and the materials - my dress only cost about $200 and it was very nice and I liked the way it looked on me (so by the way did my husband).
7. If you use the caterer for both the rehearsal dinner and the reception, you may be able to get a use discount. You are using them for two meals, not one and they may reduce the meals just a little.
8. Also, some churches have a very large area where you can have your reception that again, if you are a member will be free or less than someone who is not a member.
9. Reception halls just have to be able to hold the reception - they don't have to be expensive - we used a VFW hall.
10. Have fun. Have fun music, have fun dances - we had a William and Mary dance because we had so many Williams and Marys at our wedding. We had a birthday cake for all those having a birthday on or close to the day of our wedding (then a birthday dance). The more fun you have the more fun your guests have.
Good Luck.

Pastel colors would have been beautiful for a May (spring) wedding. I liked the sage green idea the most for a spring wedding. Red is mostly used for Valentine and Christmas weddings but May red weddings will be good also. Since you have changed your colors to red, I will share a few pictures with you. Red, white and gold will be very nice. Click on link below to view pictures

baby blue and pink may remind someone of babies. not something you want on your wedding day.
for napa i would go w/ champagne and sage green. elegant and pretty. creamy white peonies and grean hydrangea would be lovely.
a winery is a great choice for a late afternoon wedding.
or you could do picnic chic
go buy the latest edition of martha stewart weddings for inspiration. there are so many choices out there!
have fun and feel free to post more questions once you know the direction you are going in. there are so many details to take care of. the most important thing is that you remember it's your day!
congrats!

My daughters wedding was pastels. Only because her bridesmaids could agree on the same color. haha! so she went with pastels and each girls wore 1 of the colors that were in her bouquet. Also check out halls such as V.F.W or one of those organizations for wedding/reception they are cheap. Or try a park setting if warm weather. My daughters friends Moms
also brought food dishes so it helped with the food cost. If your family and friends are just plain ole people they prob wouldnt mind helping out like that

I think those Colors are Great after all may is spring so you wouldn't want to have bright bright colors.
You should pick a theme something that you and your partner like so that everything can flow together nicely.
Just search wedding themes and pick one or two

Are you getting married in a local area or are you willing to do it in another town. If you're able to do it in another town, then you should consider South Beach, Miami, FL . Art Deco architecture still rules the day in South Beach and pastels are the color throughout the city. Good luck otherwise

The best advice I got is to check out the forums at www.etiquettehello.com. The stories are funny, but the forum is the place to go for advice. It's nice you have time before the wedding to make sure of what you want! Congrats and best of luck!
