Gnostics were wiped out as heretics in the first three or four centuries of the Christian era. We only have their documents (and not all of them are complete). The secret knowledge they had, which was not laid down in their documents, is lost.

Mainstream Christianity is still here.

Gnostics believe there are two gods, a cruel one in the old testament, and a kind one in the new testament. They also believe we all have God inside of us (some mainstream christians believe this also), and with deep study we can learn how to access this within ourselves. At least I think that's what the believe, I could be wrong about the accessing Him part, but its something like that.

Gnostic Christianity says that anyone can become like Christ, and that we all have a divine spark within that can be awakened. They believe in becoming enlightened. Mainstream Christianity says that we are separate from God, except Jesus, who was the only divine human.
