How do i get my cat to sit still?

Question

Whenever i comb him, or better yet a bath! And also what are some good cat games because my cat always wants attention and/or to play but then when i wave something in front of him he doesnt go for it really?( if not just a little then just watches it because he doesnt get it or something so our other cat goes after it).

I think they get more fun out of watching you chase the ball back and forth to see if you can get them to play. Wears you out. When you comb him try wrapping his one end in a towel, then comb the other, then visa versa. That way you can cover most of his claws

At the pet store you can get a plastic fishing rod with a little stuffed mousie on the end of it. Cats love this toy and you can dangle it while you are watching TV.

Once I knew a cat that liked to play with a ball of foil.

As far as getting him to sit still for combing, you have to pet him and get him real relaxed so he's purring and then gently begin to comb him. This may take some time. And some cats just hate to be brushed!

Hold the cat still by holding firmly on her scruff! Tell her to sit still! Say it every time she wiggles and do it every day until she gets the hang of it. It is natural because they sit still for their mom and get cleaned when she holds them there. After she has got it down then try it isn the tub. Have the water ran and everything all alid out. Call the cat to you and pet and love her and tell her she needs to sit still and then take her to the bath. Repaeat sit still and hold her scruff. My cat plays fetch. Everytime I wad a piece of paper she comes running and thinks it is for her! Also when I cut material she wants a piece. I give her long pieces and tie them in knots so she can pick them up easier and then she plays until I give up throwing it. She loves little pom pom balls also. She has never liked any of the hard balls like most of my other cats.She also likes to swat my grandkids when they walk by! Try one of those little red lights. My cat goes nuts chasing it and will try climbing the wall to get it! It is like a pen light with a laser but be careful not to shine it in her eyes. My grndkids laugh until they can't watching her do so much silly stuff. It is funny because she is 3 1/2 yrs.and about 16 lbs and long haired so she really takes over the room when she chases something!Best wishes with yours. I could write a book about my Bootsie!

My cats love ping pong balls. They are cheap and they don't take much to get them playing with them. They will run up and down the hall batting them around. I wait until after my cats have played to groom them, they are tired and will lay still while I comb them.

my cats favorite toy was a piece of foil shaped like a ball. Wear the cat out then do the grooming

good luck with the bath...cats shouldn't really need baths, they keep themselves pretty clean themselves. as far as combing him, just do as much as he will let you do try working your way up from there.

as far as games one of my favorite games to play with my boys is the paw game. go to the grocery store and ask for banana boxes and put half of one upside down and stick him in it and put your fingers in the holes of the box and he will try to go after them. just make sure his nails are trimmed. also get a string toy and have fun with that. just make sure that after you are done with any string toy you put it where your cat can't get to it or he will eat the string and that may cause problems, costly problems.

why on your earth would you give your cat a bath??? cats don't need baths. cats are free spirits, you can't make them do anything that they don't want to. just give up. accept it. embrace it.
