I was wondering how good you have to be around the age of 13 to have a shot at the PGA Tour. I know you can always improve as much as you want to but I was wondering where I should be to have a decent chance.
P.S. I'm 13 and a 3.7 handicap.

Number one thing is ya have to have a 64 in your bag every week or ya cannot make it..Im and instructor and if ya are going to try soon, you must play in qualifiers untill ya qualifie for a tourney..Only on Open championships. If you are a 3.7 handicap for 18 holes you must be the best in your area or state..Your school system would be most greatful for you to play for them...and win everything out there..What length tracks are you playing?3.7 is a very good cap..Please contact myself back if I can be of any help to you..Im in Michigan.. You have to be pretty damn good - These guys are playing on the most difficult courses in the world and they still shoot under par - the pros made a joke out of Medinah, 18 under won it? A real major would have at least been in single digits - the key is to be long, people say it doesn't matter but it does. Length and accuracy with your driver or 3 wood off the tee - it's the difference between going for the green with a 5 iron or a 8 iron - these guys are so good, they are hitting 7 irons for 190-200 yards which allows the ball to stop because it is falling straight down and not coming in hot at an angle with a 3-4 iron. If you are a 4 handicap, you are already a damn good player and you should continue to improve - but always be sure to try to do whatever you can to get more length - I can bomb the ball off of the tee and my irons are OK but my putting is horrible - I need to get much better at it - my handicap is 9 and once I put better, I'm sure the stroke will come off but I score better now because I am so long - it's important

Start playing in amatuer tourneys where you live.
Once you are best in your area,go for the State.
Get all the tourney experience you can.
Then you have to go to Qualifier school to become a member of the PGA. Then you have to win on the lesser tour to have a shot.
You could Qualify for the US open at regional and district tourneys.....Most of all be ready to not be the best in the world, just be the best golfer you can be!

You should see if you can hang around any college golf teams int your area. All play with the best golfers you can find. Play in all the tournament you can. Play the USGA rules, don't move the ball. Not only do you have to play good but you have to do it under pressure. You can see all the qualifying scores on www.pgatour.com look under tour or may it's Q School
