My cat has thrown up on our floor in various parts of the house. She has been meowing a "hurt" meow every time someone tries to pick her up. Now, she's been sitting under our deck for over 5 hours. It's raining, and she still stays out, not moving an inch. (But she did turn around awhile ago.) She is in a window opening for the basement. (it's closed, and has bars covering it.) What's wrong, and what should I do?

At this time, I have read the first 12 answers. The main point has become clear. My cat needs to go to the vet. Unfortunately, I can't do that myself. (Can't drive, vet too far away, driving parent not home...) Thanx everyone, I think most of you should be the best answer, unfortunately I can only pick one. Sorry to the rest of you... I think I'll put it to voting.

Okay. Now my cat is fine, even though my parents wouldn't bring us to the vet.

By the time you become aware of a change in your cat's behavior the cat has been in distress for quite some time.
No way to tell what's wrong of course, vomiting is a symptom of many things, possible poisoning. The diagnosis needs to made by the veterinarian.
To do? Go outside and get the cat into the house. Take the cat in to the veterinarian ASAP.

One of my cats had the exact thing you are describing, except he went under the bed and didn't come out of there for like 3 hours, then when he finally came out he was walking soooo slowly, I didn't want to bother him so I just watched him very carefully, anyway it happened to be a hairball problem, he couldn't spit it out and his belly was hurting, he eventually threw up and it was a huge hair ball. Ever since this happened I changed their food, now I feed them Science Diet food and he has never had another episode like that thank God. However it can be something different with your cat, only a vet would be able to tell you. Good luck and I hope your kittie gets better soon, I know how sad it is to see them hurt it makes you want to cry!!

I recommend taking her to a vet, My cat had the same thing (poor Sin..) wronge with her, it was a acidic problem in her stomache, and because we waited, she had surgery, still alive and well, it could be the cat food, or if shes an outside cat, it could be food poisoning or she could be getting attention from neighbors and the food diet is off balance. a vet would be the best choice (good luck!)

Could be something she shouldn't have eaten and it is stuck. My old Himalayan used to eat carpet yarn when she found them and the green plastic broom straws and she would throw those up. She never complained about hurting though.Try giving her some yard grass and she if she will eat it if you don't have any specially growing for your cat. They will eat it sometimes if they have a tummy ache. If she doesn't eat it I would definetly get her to the vet.A cat can die within hrs if not treated. She may have got into anything since she goes outside.I hope she gets better soon.

You need to get her to a vet. She could have an infection of some sort or an injury. My cats get like that after they've been in a fight and got wounded. It could be lots of things so take her to a vet.

Take her to a vet. Sounds like something is seriously wrong with her. Have them rule out blockages and tumors. You never said how old she is. Rule out everything. This is not something you can solve by yourself. Your cat is very ill. Knowing that, take her to the vet. In most states, to know your pet is ill and to deny them vet care is animal abuse.
Good luck to both you and your cat!

In our area we have a mobile vet. A veternarian who makes housecalls. Do you access to a service like that? Check the yellow pages.

Depends on the age of the cat. Believe it or not cats have issues like humans, have her thyroid tested. When cats vomit alot it is usually a thyroid problem.

Im glad your cat is better.
