Ok, I have light brown hair! It is about an inch past shoulder and its layered all over, and it is very very srait. I kinda want to get a perm, I have always wanted curly hair. I don't want it to be super curly, but just Sexy curly! So do you recomend me getting a perm, or is it a bad idea? Would it look good? People I talk to say it gets like 2 in. shorter. Just wanted to see if you guys could help! Please give serious answers. And if you have BULL CRAP to talk about! Then I dont want to hear it! Thanx!

Hey, you're going into eighth grade, too? Email me! As for the curly hair: I have VERY curly hair and I do love it, but it gets annoying. Try a curler.:)

This is SO creepy. My situation totally matches yours. I have light brown hair an inch past the shoulder and want to get a perm that's not super curly. That's strange! But anyway, I think it would look good, and you can always put it back again (That's what I thought, anyway). Those people are right, it will get shorter, depending on how tight the curl is. A wave shouldn't take off a lot of length.

I would go with a body wave or otherwise a perm with really BIG rollers, not small, tight rollers. Small tight rollers might wind up giving you more of a poodle effect, not the "sexy curly" look you are going for. And yes, it does make your hair about two inches shorter. All of my friends that have got perms (including myself) have wound up using a straightner every day because they used too small of rollers. One of my friends got a body wave and wound up with big, bouncy curls that weren't too harsh. I would start out with a body wave to get used to it, and then if you want it curlier the next time you get it done use a smaller roller. Also, depending on where you live, a perm can cost anywhere from $40-150, with the average around $70, just like a coloring treatment. Good luck!

Perms cost about 80- $100
I would not recomend one. Remember they are PERMENENT and you will get bored of it- trust me.
It is a lot eisier to curl your hair once or twice a week when you go out than to straighten it everyday.
For example if you don't have time to do your hair you just comb it (if you have straight hair) right?
Well you can't do that with curly hair since it will be all frizzy and you will have an afro.
It is much more of a hastle to take care of curly hair, and if you get a perm you won't be able to get your straight hair back untill it grows back.

It does get shorter, because the curl takes up some of the legnth, and it is damaging to your hair. Cost all depends on how thick and long your hair is. I got a spiral a few years ago and because I have very thick hair it cost 170.00. If you have very straight hair I am going to assume that it is not as thick as mine is so for a quality perm you might pay around 100.00. Just be sure to get a good conditioner and make sure your hair is in good condition before you decide to perm.

Try scrunching your hair first before you get a perm.... They say a girl with straight hair always wants curly hair and a girl with curly hair wants straight hair.... I had awesome straight hair when i was younger and wanted a perm as well and now i have the in between, not curly, not straight..... When I want it straight i use a straightner and when i want curly, I scrunch...... I mean if you can get out of the shower and not blow dry your hair and it looks like you have straightened it, you have awesome hair.... good luck to you!!

Right after you get out of the shower, put some gel/ mousse or hairspray or something on your wet hair. then pull it back in to a tight ponytail and wrap it around making a very sloppy but tight bun.
let it dry for a couple hours ( i usually do it before bed so i wake up and can take it out) and you will have curly/wavy. Fantastic hair. It works for me i hope it does the same for you. just experiment

well...I would say go for it...but yes, it does get about 1 inch shorter. The way you talk about your hair length it will cost about $40-50. The cost goes buy the hair lenght. So yeah go for it...good luck!

wash your hair and put them in rollers before bed. it will give you soft curls and it won't get as short, plus if you don't like it you can wash it out. a perm takes a while to grow out.
