I apologize if I offended anyone with my past question but I was curious to know where these IQ tests where made.

Another question I want to ask. You claim that Christians supposedly have less intelligence than non-believers or the so called atheists, but then you also claim that the United States is full of bright and talented people. Isn't Christianity one of the biggest religions in the United States? Isn't the percent of Christians bigger than the Non-Christians?

I think you are contradicting yourself with those statements and I would love it if you took the time to clarify me this.

Thanks.

Who says Christians have less intelligence than non-believers or atheists? I've heard that sort of thing too, but it's absurd. I've also heard that atheists are foolish. That's also
absurd. Both are wild generalizations.

When someone says Christians are less intelligent, they presumably are basing it on their perceived contradictions within Christian doctrine. They aren't basing it on IQ tests. Any tests
to deterimine intelligence levels of Christians vs non-Christians
would be dubious at best.

It doesn't require a lot of intelligence to be a Christian, but being a Christian doesn't guarantee a lack of it. It doesn't require a lot of intelligence to reject Christianity either. Etc.

There is no contradiction, however, with a claim that Christians have less intelligence than atheists and the claim that the US is full of bright and talented people. Both statements can be true. One can be an intelligent Christian and still be *less intelligent* than a non-Christian.

So your identification of a contradiction is false, at least as you have stated it. I don't know about whether the answers you were
responding to contained contradictions. I haven't read them.

Hope I have been of some help, candykills. I too don't mean to offend.

I have a link to some studies on my computer at work. I haven't looked into their sources. I'll send it to you.

Whether or not I believe that Christians are any more or less intelligent than anyone else, the answer to your question would be that, if religion were not a factor in intelligence, you would expect the number of intelligent people who are Christians in a given area to be proportional to the total number of people who are Christians in the given area (the US for example). However, it is possible that the factor of religious belief would play a part in IQ, so, while you may have some intelligent people who are Christian, it could very well be that, say, 100% of the atheists have an IQ of 150, so atheists make up 80% of the intelligent population, but only 20% of the population in general (I'm just making up figures). By contrast, maybe only 10% of people of religion X have an IQ of 150, making their share of the intelligent people only 20%, whereas their share of the entire populace is actually 80%.

Does that make any sense?

First off, if you're looking for the smartest people, I think you should be checking out Japan, because the US might brag a lot, but we're most certainly only the smartest in our own opinions.

Believing in a big bang from nothingness is not more intelligent than believing in God, not only is it illogical and irrational, it's absurd, which is exactly what atheists say to us about our belief in God. They want to believe it, fine, but don't be telling people it makes you more intelligent. Both theories are believed, but make no mistake, the big bang theory is a theory, not a scientific fact. So basically, what we believe doesn't make us any more intelligent than the other side of the coin. Genetics has a lot more to do with it than religious belief or lack of it.

Unfortunately, the US may seem to be mainly christian, but its really not so anymore. It once was, but times change, and christianity has taken a big hit. Churches are dwindling, people don't go anymore. Sometimes because we're just too busy, sometimes because we've lost faith. We don't take our kids, the kids don't learn it, so each generation of kids leaves less believers. Attendance in churches all over the county hit an all time high right after 09/11, but we've forgotten again and have lapsed back to our old routines.

Must have missed your previous question. I don't know what was said, but don't worry about insulting me. It takes a lot to get me mad.

I don't know where you get your source, but Christians and non-Christians both have an equal chance in the intelligence arena.

Yes, Christianity is the biggest religion in the States. As for Atheists, they need prayer more than anything else. Not an education.

As for the precentile of Christians vs. Non, I don't know what the exact figures are. Although Christianity is big here in the U.S., There are still other religions to contend with. Again, I am not certain of the figures. I'd like to think that Christians have an edge, but I'm not to sure we do.

In summation, all of America needs prayer right now. Both for the Christians that take as stand everyday and for those who continue to misunderstand or hate us.

Forgive me for noticing, but I couldn't help but notice the wording of your question. You aren't from the United States? If so, please email me. I'd like to know where you are from. Just a country is all - no need for a street address or a town.

67% of the USA citizens are in fact Christian, IQ tests where made by both atheists and Christians.

The USA is also full of bright people, but we're not saying the Christians are stupid, that's over stereotyping, by far. There are extremely smart Christians who study science, history, art, you name it, and they're one of the best of the best.

What you're coming at is that you're saying all Christians in the USA are completely stupid, that's not true. It's true that Atheists have more of a higher understanding of science because religion is not holding them back, but Christians are indeed smart.

We're not contradicting, you're just manipulating all the information you've obtained into generalizing against USA citizens.

I firmly believe that all these studies are done by people with their own agendas.

When I was in eighth grade, a teacher told us that IQ only measures the amount of information your brain can hold. Some of us have a little Dixie cup, some of us have a Double Big Gulp cup, and most of us have something in between. What ultimately matters is not the measurement of the cup, but how much you've filled it and what you've filled it with.

I don't know why, but that seemed really germane to this topic for me.

God loves you whether you are intelligent or not. Who are people trying to please? Who is more important to please? The masses or God? Man's knowledge is foolishness to God. I am a Christian and I have an IQ of 144. I was in gifted classes in school and I graduated from college. Does that make me better than anyone? No. Christians or any religious people shouldn't be discouraged by these studies and insulting our intelligence. The Lord knows your heart and that is the only thing that matters!!!

The American education system is apalling compared to, lets say, certain European countries. Yes, the U.S. is full of top researchers, but the average citizen fails miserably against some other countries. Our arrogance is in the way of our learning. We assume we are on top, so we don't need to do anything more. Some Christians have low intelligence, as well as some Atheists. It's mutual

I didn't see your original question but I do know this, intelligence has nothing to do with one being a believer or not. Its always been a matter of the heart.

Secondly, though many people claim to be a Christian in this country, in no way can that be construed as true. Perhaps less than 15% of the total population is actually Christian, that is, a believer.

IM or email me privately and I fill you in on atheism and the foolishness surrounding it, and, moreover, why there is no truth to one calling themselves an atheist.

The United States is NOT full of bright and talented people... it is full of dumbasses. However, the top 1% of 300 million is 3 million... that's still a LOT of very smart people. About 95% of THEM are atheists and agnostics.
