That's an excellent idea! If young people don't have church related activities to fill their time with then the world with all of it's sin and deception will take up that space in their lives. A young person who starts out serving the Lord is building a firm foundation both in this life and in the life to come.

1 Corinthians 3:11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw-- 13 each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

growing up in the black church, i noticed that a lot of people who held active positions in the church were very resistant at stepping down and also resistant to teaching someone else to execute their position. the result- as i have seen time and again- is stagnation. if older people take on a position with the primary intent of mentoring and passing it on, young people will become more involved. because young people will draw other young people. young people need to be in the types of positions that are meaningful and will actually have an effect on the direction the church goes- not some token activities that i have seen some people try to brush them under the rug with. when someone feels that they are important to an organization, they will actively participate. i believe many of our churches have not shown young people how important they are to the organization.

Depends on which church and what activities. I would rather see more children being challenged in school to work harder ... so they are better able to use the brains God put into their heads. I would rather see more parents getting MARRIED BEFORE they have children and then STAYING TOGETHER even in hard times and teaching their children right from wrong according to JESUS and not to the pastors etc. I would rather see families working together to STAY together and working for God and not for themselves. One great example of this would be Habitats for Humanity.

If a church has worthless values not based on JESUS alone.. then why bother to make a kid go to church?

I think it's wonderful.
Years ago I worked in a day care.
Power rangers was a huge hit then and all the kids played.
When a child would get hurt and cry "someone always would"
The children who went to church would go over and pick them up and give them a hug. The non church going kids would continue playing.
I think it teaches them compassion and morels. Good idea.

I personally think that religion creates an avenue for intolerance. Not for everyone but there are people who lean too much on the illusion that there religion is the only religion. Especially between the christian sects. Sorry I don't mean to offend but I personally avoid religious gathering because of this.

Didn't there used to be 24/7 basketball courts that were REALLY popular? New York? I don't know where and they were shut down. But they were supervised. Once you got them coming in, even for basketball, so long as there are interested adults around, folks will start talking to them.

I'm not much on religion, but some of those guys really need adults in their lives.

The first step is getting the parents there. Then make the parents see the necessity of their kids going. Easily said, less easily done. God Bless.
