To be honest I had never really thought about. My parents were burried and so were my grand parents.
I can see both sides of the arguments on one hand as mentioned if your cremated then it is just ashes that must be scattered out. A body is just a empty shell after the soul has left. People like to belive that the body is a temple.
So for me I really don't know I know it sounds bad but I prefer the idea of a burrial that way my family and friends can see me one last time.
But either way it isn't as cut and dry as some make it out. Finances do dictate what does happen.

With modern embalming and interring customs, I don't think your body decays that well, what with the fluids and the casket and IIRC the cement vault, etc.
I want to be cremated, and my ashes returned to the earth. Maybe plant a tree or something and scatter some of my ashes in the soil under and around it.

Cremate me and scatter the ashes to the wind.
Or pack them in a large rocket and explode them in a moonless dark sky, then drink some beer ,plays some music and party on.
I don't need this but I have heard a company can make some diamonds from the cremains.

I am donating my body and/or organs to science for medical research or to help others who could use my tissues.
Additionally, any remains leftover would be cremated.
There are some websites where one can have the ashes of a loved one made into objects. I saw one website where they create diamonds out of cremated ashes of people, that you could set into a ring. What a great idea!
If one didn't have the cash for that, I'd settle for say having someone make ceramic vases for my friends hee hee

Cremation takes alot of burden off the family. No need for casket etc. I'm not religious, but if you are, your god probably thinks your body is just an empty shell waiting to release your spirit/soul to the next life/heaven anyway, so what good is the corpse anyway? Burn baby burn!

What's worse, turning into dust over a 50 yr. period or in the mortuary oven? You are dead, you won't care. It's like taking off a coat and dropping it on the ground and walking away. You will be free of the confines of this Earth and at the right time,God will make you an indestructable ,eternal body, that will never see decay(Just make sure you are right with the Lord)

Personally, I think what you do with the empty carcass you leave behind is completely up to you. If you want to be cremated and spread your ashes over the Kraft factory because you just loved mac'n' cheese that much , well it's up to you. God is not taking your human body to heaven so what real difference does it make? For all we know he wants us to donate our bodies to science so they can find cures for horrible diseases. Who really knows?

My mother was cremated. We felt that her soul had gone to heaven, and all that was left was the shell. It was not a difficult decision to make. (And since she was very careful with her $$, we felt she would have appreciated that it was cheaper than burial !!) And by the way, we donated what we could to the Sharing Network and that was her last gift to humanity.
