i am 13 and like the emo/rocker type guys.
my family thinks they are weird and 'freaks'.
what should i do to make them think different?! should i stop liking them?!
i really see no problem with them... =[[

As cliched as this sounds, it doesn't matter what they look like on the outside. It's the inside that counts. If you meet a nice guy who's an emo/rocker type of dude, there's no issue about it.

Hopefully whoever u bring home ur parents will give a chance... Talk to them about it.... Just be honest and let them know this is the type u r attracted to and it might just be a phase....... it was when I was 13 now I like the nerd type cause more than likely they are gonna be the ones to make something of themselves!

emo is just preppie punk. every generation has their 'freaks'. prove that you are responsible by keeping your grades up and minding your curfew and they wont associate bad behavior with emo. maybe your parents are confused about what emo is--just like parents freaked out when kids grew their hair long when the beatles came out--more about music and being ok with being different, than some kind of negative rebellion. the calmer you are, the more they have to listen to you and respect you.

Trust me, later on in life, those types of guys get mixed into a lot of crap like drugs. Don't be attracted to a guy be his style, yet more for his personnality. You'd be better off ditching the emo train!

I liked those kind of guys at your age, too. The only thing that you can do is when you meet one, introduce him to your parents and let them see that he actually does have manners and is a good person. That is unless he's a total punk (and I know some of them can be), then I don't blame your parents for their worry!

Examine you parents base of objections. Some of the reasons may seem silly, others may seem wrong, while some may actually have merit. It is up to you to look at the whole situation and see if your parents are seeing something you aren't or if they are acting from a place of ignorance.

well if you end up getting with a good rocker/emo guy, eventually bring him home to your parents... hve him be the one to show your parents that they arent all bad

its ok to have those likes at ur age...family will always think u are wierd...its that phase in life....u cant do anything;being a rebel will only add fuel to the fire....no u shudnt stop liking the guys;just that take care and not get carried away...

I don't know if you are those kinds of girls that in order to date a guy you need your family's approval. If not you shouldn't listen to them, you are the one that is going to date or go out with the guy, not your family...
