According to Einstein's and Aristole's theorem of Potentiality versus Actuality the Chicken came first.
His theory argues that actuality precedes potentiality. Simply put an object has to exist before its potential can be realized.
Therefore the chicken(actual state of being) came first. Its potential to reproduce and lay an egg came after.
However the theory of dual existence and quantum physics suggests that the egg came first. The egg has a dual purpose of not only being and egg but also the chicken. From the development of said egg...a chicken(minus egg) is then achieved after the fact. The duality of existence and multiple realities supports the idea that the egg is both rather than the opposite.
Both are theories that do nothing but create more questions.
However let me pose this to you. If evolution is factored into the equation.....The creature that evolved into a chicken would itself not be a chicken. Its offspring would be the result of whatever external stimulus that sparked the need to evolve. So with that train of thinking.....the egg(result of evolution) would of come first and when it hatched....the end product...A CHICKEN.

The egg of course! Eggs are for breakfast and chicken is for dinner, and everyone knows that breakfast is before dinner.
If the chicken came first, then what the heck were people supposed to eat for breakfast on that first day? They'd all just be waiting around for dinner with a stupid chicken running around.
No, no, no. First came the egg, then the chicken. Well, to get technical about it, first came the egg, then came peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch, then came the chicken right around dinnertime.

HAHAH.. you guys have it all wrong.. it's already been scientifically proven... Sorry Christians, but the EGG came first!!
It's plain and simple... DNA during the life of an animal does not change... therefore, for there to be an ENTIRELY different species (the chicken), it would FIRST have to be an egg... THERE, problem solved... The Egg is first, and of course, out comes the chicken from the egg, it being second...
Don't believe me? READ THE NEWS! Everyone should stop trying to throw out bologna answers just for points...

This is one of those vicious cycle questions that cannot be accurately answered.
However, taking out the vicious cycle element to it, the egg, of course, comes first, because each chicken was an egg first.

All depends on what you believe in.
If you believe in God, then the chicken came first because God created all living things. But I think that's bull.
Other people think that the egg came first because maybe some dinosaur egg was deformed.... then came the chicken.

hmmmm, good question so lets go to a book of authority to find an explanation. lets see, what would that book be? oh yes, the bible. lets go to genesis chapter 1. lets look in verses 20-thru22. i will condense it because of space but it says this:god said to have the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creatures that has life where he created great whales & every living creature that moved. after their kind & every winged fowl after its kind. god blessed them saying, be fruitful & multiply & fill the waters in the seas &let the fowl multiply in the earth. so where do you in these verses do you see any egg mentioned first before the creatures were formed? you dont. god made & created them & told them to go & the key word , multiply the seas & the earth. the animal was there before the mutiplying started, so end of the standoff of the chicken & egg argument. read your bible. all of lifes answeres are in it.

I think the chicken...coz when Adam and Eve went down to earth God sent a male and females from all creatures...and with Noah (the messenger) he took male and female from everything..and the scientist think that after Noah took the creatures with him and God saved him it began a new life ... so my opinion that the chicken is first...
