I have a green/green-blue birthmark on the upper part of my left arm and I want to know if this occurance is common. Everyone thinks it's just a bruise but it's actually the color of my skin.
I've had a cut through my birth mark and the skin that grew back was still green-blue. I don't know anyone else with this THING... although I like it because it makes me unique, I'm wondering if it's linked to something medical. Do you know anyone with this kind of birthmark?

it's not a bruise... it is a birthmark, I've had it since I was born. I was thinking it was a Mongolian Spot, but those normally go away or fade. Mine has done neither.

Dont worry. Sometimes the Mongolian spots can persist for years together... If they stay upto puberty they wont disappear and will stay for life. They are called Aberrant persistant Mongolian spots. These are macular type of blue naevi where the pigment cells are in deeper layers of the skin.
Dont worry and just forget about it.

It may be Mongolian Spot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolian_spot), which are generally large and in the buttock area, though have shown on other parts of the body. The Mongolian Spot typically disappears within three to five years after birth, almost always by puberty.

I cam across your question via Google search as I am curious to find out about my bluish green "dot" birthmark on my upper left arm....SAME AS YOU. Thought it was just me too. HA...

My mother used to tell me it means I'm "blue blood", I like that answer better than the Mongolian Spot possibility.

My two year old son was born with a bluish birth mark above his bottom. At first I thought it was a bruise but his pediatrician confirmed to me that it is in fact a birth mark. I don't know what medically related factor can be connected to the birth mark.

I have no idea, but my sister has a large Purple & Pink birthmark above one of her eyes. I've never heard of anything medical, probably just something to do with the pigments in the skin. And I think it's pretty cool...I does make you unique.
