Not exactly. However, the plant oil that causes the rash is very clingy. So, assuming that you have a rash from exposure, and you clean it well with soap and water. You will not transfer the rash because you have washed off the oil. BUT, the oil can cling to your clothes (or the family dog for that matter), and cause a rash that way. there are medicines available now to help.

poison ivy is very contagious, also poison sumac and poison oak. My son get it almost every year. I give him baths in Aveeno oatmeal mix and cover him with calamine lotion. Be sure to wear long sleeve shirts and long pants and don't let anyone touch you or you them. Good Luck.
