because of the extra contents of spices in it

Because they are eaten by COOL CATS.

The dog in question is German in origin in fact a Frankfurter.
The sausage is long and thin like a dachshund, a German breed of dog.

They use to yell " get you dogs here, get your hot dogs here" and the name just stuck. so from then on they called them hot dogs.
