A friend told me that high percent of filler in dog food makes a dog go to the bathroom alot,is this true?

yes....when buying dog food look at the ingredients. Make sure none of the 1st three are corn meal or some other filler.

Personally I like any dry food that has a meat as the first ingredient. Your friend is right about the fiber. Commonly dogs that are overweight are put on a high fiber diet to keep them feeling full but still lose weight. Foods like Purina O.M. Science Diet R.D. Purina fit and trim,,, and on.. and on. A food that has a meat as a first ingredient is more digestable. The dog will poop less and get more from the diet. As opposed to the foods that have ground yellow corn as the first ingredient. I like either Purina Pro Plan chicken and rice. Purina One can be bought in the grocery store. Wal-Mart has their own brand called maxximum nutrition. Yep it has two x's in the name. I like the lamb and rice one. It's comparable to some of the premium foods. If your dog is over weight then cut it's food by a third. It also depends upon how active your dog is and his overall health. The size of the dog factors in as well. So...... You choose. Or ask your vet since they know your dog best.

yes this is very true but the one's with the least filler are super expensive. If you have a petmart around you and you can afford it, ask a person in the dog department to suggest a dog food with less fillers.
It's a big battle between money and poop

Filler is what makes dogs gain weight. An 8 yr old doesnt need that. Find one with less filler

My vet told me that the worst kind of dog food you can feed a dog is the "el-cheapo" kind called OL'ROY.
